Week 6 finds some undeniable truths being revealed. It is still relatively early and every team in the league is within a game of a money spot. Another undeniable truth, taking a kicker in the first round is a recipe for disaster. The EAGLES have lost 2 in a row, the Phillies lost in the NLDS and the Dream Team lost. Do not expect much sunshine in these notes. We filled up the transaction box this week, so that was good. If you are looking for something humorous and light-hearted, might I suggest an old MAD magazine or perhaps Douglas Adams novel. Oh well, on to the gloom. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Black & Blue Attack and Body Shop will meet in what is essentially a battle for the basement spot. The Roxborough Wranglers will try to keep that money line in their sights by beating the Fightin’ Irish. In a battle of money teams, the Good Fellas will try to keep the top spot by defeating the Money Takers. The Dream Team are looking to move back into that top spot with a victory over the Black Assassins and a little help. The Jelly Beans will try to keep their money spot with a win over the Croatans. Spock was 2 of 5 last week making him 9 of 20 (45%) on the year. He retains top billing. Norm (my estimates) was 1 of 5 last week making him 11 of 20 (55%) on the year. His lines are below:
BS -1 BB (253) DT -9 BS (263) There were 2 games decided prior to Monday night. The other 3 had a little Monday night madness with a bunch of players going. The Jelly Beans edged out the Fightin’ Irish in a very tight battle. The Beans were led by Taylor and McConkey as they kept hold of that last money spot. The Irish were led by Goedert in the loss. In a tight game like this there are usually better options for the losing team on the bench that would have made a difference. In this case the easiest path to victory for the Irish was Daniels over Stafford. Scattebo over Diggs would have done the trick too, but that one would have taken a little more courage. The Money Takers defeated the Body Shop in a very low scoring contest. The Takers were led by Dowdle (Chuba who?) as they kept first place in their sights. The Shop failed to field a 20-point starter, but they did have a few on their bench. In fact, the best lineup for the Shop would have kept the Shop out of the basement. . |
The Good Fellas, Allen and a 39.4-point lead were just too much for the Croatans, Cook and the BILLS on Monday night. The Delas were led by Allen, Achane and J-S-N as they notched their second helmet and jumped back into first place after a couple weeks out of the penthouse. The Croatans were led by Baker in the loss. The Croatans had some better options on the bench but none that would have flipped the script. The Roxboorough Wranglers and Bijan easily overcame a 3.3-point lead by the Dram Team and Gay on Monday night. The Wranglers let the Dream Team, hold on to hope until the 2nd quarter of the first game. Bijan ripped off a 81-yard TD run and that pretty much end all the dreams of the Dream Team. The Wranglers were led by Dak, Jacobs and an MVP performance by Bijan as they climbed back to .500 and just below the money line. The Dream Team was led by Mahomes and Rub CMC in the loss that booted them out of the penthouse. Even their best line-up could not have stayed that eviction notice. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black Assassin and the Black & Blue Attack. The first annual Black Bowl did not disappoint as the Assassins, Swift, London and DJ made short work of the Attack, Bill, Odunze and a 15.6-point lead on Monday night. The Assassins were led by Hurts, Swift, London and McBride in the win that got them back to .500. The Attack was led by Maye (looking like a weekly lineup lock) and Chase (welcome Joe Flacco) in the loss that has them in a tie for last place. Maybe Flacco can save the BENGALS and the Attack’s seasons. Even the Attack’s best lineup (Brown, Kamara and Pickens over Judkins, Harrison and Odunze) would have left them less than a point short. I can see Brown getting the bench, but a little surprised by the Kamara and Pickens benching. It always feels better knowing that any coaching mistakes would not have changed the outcome (little solace when you get the “L”). CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
