Week 2 finds us with 3 undefeated teams and 3 winless teams. The rest of the league is at 1-1. The transaction wire is still extremely active. The Dream Team and the EAGLES remain undefeated, so I would normally call this a happy set of notes. However, since I was forced to stay up until wee hours of the morning because of a 10:00 Monday night game (and the Phillies clinching the NL East in extra innings on the west coast, groggy is more likely. It did not help that these Notes come to you caffeine free (the price I pay trying to beat CBS to the punch with the weekly notes – and mine are only somewhat automated). The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week In a battle of undefeated teams, the Good Fellas will square up against the Black & Blue Attack. The Money Takers will try to jump above the .500 mark by defeating the Roxborough Wranglers. In a family affair, the Dream Team will try to keep their undefeated status by beating the Jelly Beans. The Fightin’ Irish will try to get back on the winning track against the winless Body Shop. In a battle of former partners, the Croatans will try to hold that last Money spot against the Black Assassins. Spock and Norm (my estimates) tied last year so Spock will get top billing. His locks appear above. Norm’s lines (my estimates) are below:
BB -1 GF (251) BS -1 FI (243) There were no games decided prior to Monday night. It happens when you have 2 Monday night games, however there was not a lot of Minday night madness (except the start time of the 2nd game). The Black & Blue Attack and a 44.2-point lead held off the Jelly Beans, Evans, McConkey and McLaughlin on Monday night. The Attack was Led by Chase who seemed to be just fine without Joe Cool he Burrow news may have lasting effects on the Attack – since they went all in in the Bengals at the draft). The Beans were led by Taylor in the loss. The Beans could have gotten their first W with some bench options, the easiest path being a Goff start over Murray. The Good Fellas and a 39-point lead were too much for the Roxborough Wranglers and Egbuka on Monday night. The Fellas were led by Achane, Gibbs and Jake the Make as they kept that top spot in the standings. The Wranglers were ked by Dak and Adams as they still search for that first 2025 win. Starting Ettien, Allen and Ertz over Brown, Egbuka and Hockenson would have gotten the Wranglers their first W, but those would have been some bold moves. |
The Money Takers, Hampton and a 51.4-point lead easily held off the Black Assassins, Dicker and the TEXANS on Monday night. The Takers were led by Action Jackson, Puka and CeeDee as they grabbed their initial W of the year. Only Jameo cleared 20 points for the Assassins on Monday night. The Assassins had some better options on the bench, but none that would have changed the outcome). The Croatans, Mayfield, Collins, Faibarn and a 6.8-point lead easily held off the Body Shop and Jeanty on Monday night. The Croatans were led by Mayfield, Cook and an MVP performance by Nabers. In fact, the Croatans HQ was most likely already beyond beating the Shop for their inaugural victory and were concentrating on that first helmet of the year (effort rewarded). The Ship was led by Lawrence and their first-round pick Aubrey. A fine performance by Aubrey indeed. It would have been a much better performance if he had been drafted many rounds later (which he could have been). Coach Casey and his bold (read -- illogical) first pick find themselves winless and there was not much help on the bench. Can the Shop possibly add any more rookies - they know this is not a keeper league right? The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Fightin’ Irish (mainly because there were no good candidates, so Commissioner Privilege kicked in). The Dream Team, Jakobi and a 33.1-point lead held off the Irish and Bucky on Monday night and kept their undefeated status intact. The Dream Team was led by Mahomes, Run CMC and the Sun God. The Irish was led by Daniels and Kraft. They had some better starting options in the bench but even their best lineup would have come up just short (0.2 points short). Not really much of a Game of the Week – perhaps I should have just skipped it this week. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
