Standings Key: x-Clinched Money Spot, z-Eliminated from Money

Week 16 finds that we still have one money spot up for grabs. Within the money, nothing is really set. The Dream Team can do no worse than 3rd place. The Black & Blue Attack can do no better than 2nd. SO it seems like teams are trying to better their money spot or waiting for that week 18 consolation prize. I noticed a couple of nuggets, The Dream Team is the only team that has scored triple-digits every week, despite being 2nd in scoring. The Fightin’ Irish is the only team that has face triple digits every week, despite being 2nd in points against. The schedule is weird this week with games on Christmas day and the next 4 days. The Commissioner’s office would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Match-ups to watch this Week

The Black & Blue Attack will try to lock up that last money spot by sweeping the Fightin’ Irish. The Money Takers are in a must-win situation as they try to avenge their early season loss to the Jelly Beans. In round 2 of the SWFFL faux playoffs, the Good Fellas will try to keep their championship hopes alive by avenging their early season loss to the Black Assassins, who also have a lot on the line this week. The Dream Team will try to keep that top spot by sweeping the defending champion Body Shop. The Croatans will try to make a late season jump above the money line by sweeping the Roxborough Wranglers.

Spock was 3 of 5 last week, making him 42 of 70 (60%) for the year. He retains top billing. Norm was 3 of 5 last week, making him 32 of 70 (46%) for the year. His lines are below:

FI -1 BB (261)     DT -9 BS (271)
JB -2 MT (260)     RW -2  C (258)
BA -1 GF (263)

Two games were decided prior to Monday night, the other 3 had some Monday night madness (well not really).

The Black & Blue Attack took one more step to locking up that last money spot by completing the season sweep of the defending champion Body Shop. The Attack was led by Burrow, Brown, Pickens and Boswell (not a 1st round pick) as the Attack all BEGALS strategy paid off this week and scored the helmet. The Shop was led by Olave and Sutton in the loss. The Shop left a ton of points on the bench (I mean a ton), their best lineup would have out up 216.2 points.

The Money Takers just barely eked out a season split against the Good Fellas. It may have been a bit easier if Lamar played in the 2sd half, but that sort of matched Josh Allen’s poor performance (so the consensus top 2 QBs going into the season combined for 10 points in Week 16. The Takers were led by an MVP performance by Nacua. The Fellas got some good games out of Achane, Gibbs, Flower and J-S-N, but they could not make up for the Allen performance. With a loss of less than 7 points, the Fellas had some better options on the bench that would have kept them in 1st place.

The Croatans, Purdy and Jennings overcame a 21.5-poont lead against the Jelly Beans and Taylor on Minday night, although it did take a while. The Croatans were led by Purdy, Cook and Fairbairn as they kept their money hopes alive. The Beans were led by Goff and Barkey in the loss that eliminated them from grabbing a money spot and the Beams had very little help on their bench.

The Fightin’ Irish grabbed a bit of revenge for their early season loss to the Roxborough Wranglers as Warren was unable to erase a 33.9-point deficit on Monday night. The Irish was led by Stafford, Henry and Diggs in the victory. The Wranglers were led by Moore in the loss, dimming their hopes of grabbing that last money spot, and even their best lineup would have just missed.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Black Assassins. Sorry – contest with some Monday night madness involving 2 teams vying for the championship overrides the margin of victory. The Dream Team, Run CMC and Kittle easily overcame a 0.3-point lead on Monday night (on first couple of plays). The Dream Team was led by Herbert, Harvey, Run CMC and Kittle as they climbed back into first place. The Assassins were led by Hurts in this first round of the SWFFL faux playoffs and although the Assassins had some better options on the bench, none of them would have been enough to put the Assassins in the top spot and in the inside track for the trophy.
