SPOCK'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 14 finds 7 teams within 2 games of a money spot. The other 3 teams - not so much. It also marked 2 significant events, the end of the dreaded BYE weeks and the SWFFL trade deadline has passed. The commissioner’s office is still reeling after a (in my mind) improbable loss by the Dream Team and a heart-breaking loss by the EAGLES in overtime. So, I waited until after breakfast and my first cup of coffee to even start these notes. I should have listened to Coach Casey’s suggestion to write the notes yesterday. Perhaps I should have waited until tomorrow.

The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Match-ups to watch this Week

The Black Assassins will try to sweep the Black & Blue Attack in the second Black Bowl. The Dream Team will try to avenge their early season loss to the Roxborough Wranglers and keep those championship hopes alive. The Jelly Beans will try to seep the Fightin’ Irish and climb back into the hunt for a money spot. The Money Takers will try to sweep the defending champion Body Shop and keep that miny line in range. The Good Fellas will try to sweep the Croatans and get one step closer to the trophy.

Spock was 2 of 5 last week, making him 36 of 60 (60%) for the year. He retains top billing. Norm was 2 of 5 last week, making him 26 of 60 (43%) for the year. His lines are below:

BB -1 BA (261)     BS -1 MT (255)
DT -9 RW (271)      C -2 GF (262)
FI -2 JB (258)

Only 1 game was decided prior to Monday night, the other 4 had some Monday night madness (well 1 did).

The Money Takers avenged their Week 5 loss to the Croatans with Hampton fresh off the IR still to come on Monday night. The Takers were led by Action Jackson (have not mentioned him often this year), Nacua, Watson and Fannin. The Croatans were eld by Higgens (in between concussion protocol stints). The Croatans had some better options on the bench, but nine that would have changed the outcome.

The Black Assassins, Hurts, Dicker and 18.8-point lead easily held off the Roxborough Wranglers and AJ Brown in Minday night. The Assassins were led by Wilson and Dicker as they avenged their week 5 loss to the Wranglers and climbed into a tie for second place in the standings (won 7 in a row). The Wranglers were led by Dak in the loss. Starting Neal, Pollard and Worthy over Bijan, Adams and Egbuka would have squeezed out a sweep for the Wranglers and would have required the Commissioner to perform wellness check at Wranglers HQ.

The defending champion Body Shop avenged their early season loss to the Jelly Beans and escaped the basement mainly due to Etienne the foot of that first round pick Aubrey (and this weeks MVP – let PK scoring complaints begin). The Beans were led by Saquon wo finally put up first rounder points, but it was not enough. There was not a lot of help on the Bean bench.

The Good Fellas and an 81.9-point lead held off the Fightin’ Irish and Goedert in Minday night. The Fellas were led by Allen, Gibbs and JSN (seems like that is very week) as they notched their 6th helmet in a row and because of their point total, they have essentially clinched a money spot and are definitely on the inside track for the trophy. The Irish were led by Stafford in the loss and their whole roster would have lost to the Fellas this week.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the Dream Team. The Attack were down by 7.1 points with the EAGLES still to play on Minday night. Now, the EAGLES had only cleared 7.1 points 3 times out of 12 games this year (part of the reason the Dream Team cut them, but the midnight green got their revenge). The EAGLES cleared the 7.1-point barrier in the fist half in a wild game where Hurts threw an interception, recovered a fumble and fumbled all on the same play (and yeah that was 2 points for EAGLES defense). The Attack was led by Burrow as they avenged their early season loss to the Dream Team. A Corum start (or more carries for Kyren) over Meyers would have kept the Dream Team in a tie for first place. I have to admit, this game worried me, missing CMC and Kittle on the BYE, the Sun God running on one good ankle and the CHIEFS double-bubble facing the TEXANS (who look like Budy Ryan’s BEARS defense). Given all of that and we still were less than 7 points from winning (toss in the EAGLES OT loss) is enough to drive the Commish into a long and winding rant (see above).
