SPOCK'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Well, here we go again. Our 37th season is under way. It was nice seeing everyone at the draft. I want to thank my partner Norm (and his wife Sue) for hosting us again this year. The waiver wire seems very active as is normal for the first week of the season. The EAGLES won and the Dream Team won, so I imagine you can look forward to some upbeat notes today.

The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Match-ups to watch this Week

The Black & Blue Attack will try to keep their good start going against the Jelly Beans. The Good Fellas will try to keep that top spot by beating the Roxborough Wranglers. The Black Assassin will try to stay undefeated by defeating the Money Takers. The Dream Team and Fightin’ Irish will face-off in a battle of undefeated teams. The Body Shop and Croatans will meet in contest of teams looking for the first win of the season.

Spock and Norm (my estimates) tied in the battle of the odds makers last year. They will renew their annual battle of wits next week. Spock’s lines appear above, but they will not count in the 2025 Odds Maker battle.

Once again, I did that analysis based on last year's points. It is 55 out 120 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are counting on a rookie or a comeback player, then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the old website for details on what players made up your “Best Lineup”, and I’ve also included the CBS gurus analysis as well on old website.

There was only 1 game decided on Sunday, the other 4 had a little Monday Night Madness (well at least one did).

The Good Fellas dashed to the lead with a victory against the Jelly Beans and the first helmet of the year. The Fellas were led JSN, Hubbard and a monster performance by Josh Allen. The Beans were led by Murray in the loss. The Beans had some better options in the bench but none that would have put them in win column.

The Black & Blue Attack and a 31.6 point lead proved to be too much for the Roxborough Wranglers and TJ Hockenson on Monday night. The Attack was led by Boswell (seemed to do better than some other first round kicker – but is still early). The Wranglers got a nice effort out of Bijan bit were hampered by Worthy being taken out by friendly fire on the CHIEFS first drive. The Wranglers had a lot better options on their bench and probably the easiest road to victory was starting Fields and Egbuka.

The Dream Team and a 34.9 point lead held of the Money Takers, Loveland and the VIKINGS on Monday night. The Dream Team was led by Mahomes, Wilson and Run CMC as they notched the “W”. The Takers were led by Action Jackson and Nacua in the loss. The Takers left some ammo on the bench, but none that would have turned the tide.

The Fightin’ Irish, Jefferson and 24.7 point lead held off the Croatans and Aaron Jones on Monday night. It looked like there might be a comeback here, as Jefferson had bad first half. However, Jefferson recovered, and Mason got far too much action for Jones and the Croatans. The Irish was led by Daniels and MVP King Hery in the “W”. The Croatans were led by Mayfield in the loss.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black Assassins and Body Shop. The Shop carried an 18.4 point lead into Monday night against the Assassins, Swift and Moore on Monday night. It looked like the Shop might eke out the “W”, but in the 4th quarter Swift and Moore final dragged the Assassins across the finish line. The Assassins were led by Hurts in the “W” against these Draft day rivals. The Shop failed to field a 20-point starter (including that 1st round kicker). Benson or Mason over Jameo would have been the difference in a very tight contest.
