![]() Week 8 finds 7 teams within a game of 2nd place. Still a very competitive year. This week also saw the extremely rare entity known as a SWFFL trade. There were actually 2 trades, and they all involved the Black Assassins. Just a reminder, we have until week 14’s lineup deadline to continue this wheeling and dealing. Speaking of time left to make trades, I for one wish the Dream team would have waited a week before pulling the trigger on that 4 player trade we made, as our noon lineup wins this week. Unfortunately, our 1:00 lineup came up short – more about that later. At least the EAGLES won and against a decent team, so we have that going for us. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive content. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week In a family affair, the Jelly Beans will try to jump over the money line by defeating the Good Fellas. In a battle of money teams the Black Assassins will take on the Fightin’ Irish. The Body Shop will try to keep that money spot with a “W” over the Dream Team. In a battle for the basement, the Money Takers will take on the Croatans. The Roxborough Wranglers will try to keep that penthouse digs by beating the Black & Blue Attack. Spock was 2 of 5, making him 13 of 50 (43%) this year. He retains top billing. Norm (my picks) was 2 of 5 last week making him 12 of 50 (40%) this year. His lines appear below:
GF -1 JB (253) MT -1 C (249) Two games were decided on Sunday, the other 3 games had a little Monday Night Madness (looked like a snoozer until the 2nd half started). The Croatans notched their 2nd “W” of the year by taking out the Dream Team. The Croatans were led by Action Jackson and Achane as they eked out 2.8-point victory. The Dream Team was led by newly acquired Joash Allen. Unfortunately, he was on an island this week. His rookie teammate Coleman would have given him a “W” in his first game as a Dream Teamer. Now the pre-trade lineup featuring Nix and Sr. Brown over Allen and Williams would have also kept the Dream Team winning streak going. At any rate maybe the Drema Team QB issue is finally resolved – I hope. The Black Assassins fresh off the trading block, won their contest with the Money Takers. New Assassin, Bo Nix led the way for the Assassins with help from Gibson, Swift and Otton (in national TE Day). The Takers were led by Daniels and Harrison as their mini 2 week winning streak came to an end. There was not a whole lot of help on the bench. Obviously, the last-minute trading by the Assassins ruined the Takers week of game planning. |
The Fightin’ Irish and a 112.3-point lead easily held off the Jelly Beans and the STELLERS on Monday night. The STELLERS even threw in a punt return TD, but triple digits was way too much to hope for. The Irish snagged their first helmet of the year largely due to the efforts of Hurts, Lamb, Jacobs, the Slim Reaper and Kelce (yes another TE). The Beans failed to field a 20-point starter and there was not a lot of help on the bench. The Body Shop and a 45.6-point lead proved to be too much for the Black & Blue Attack, Pickens and Boswell on Monday night. Boswell and Pickens put up nice numbers, but the attack need some of these almost TDs by Pickens to actually count. The Shop was led by MVP Cousins and Bijan. The Attack was led by Mixon in the loss. Their best lineup would have just made the loss even more tragic. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Roxborough Wranglers and the Good Fellas. The Wranglers and 16.7-point lead barely held off the Fellas and Nabers on Monday night. Nabers did Ok, but if he could have stayed in bounds after the catch on that one deep pass, we would have had a very different story today. The Wranglers were led by Chase and Pitts (yet another TE). The Fellas were led by Williams and Kittle (yes - another TE) in the loss. The Fellas only path to victory would have been by staring Dak over Geno. So the Wranglers have won 4 in a row and the Fellas have dropped 4 in a row. Definitely, 2 teams traveling in different directions. Maybe they Fellas should take to the Assassins, but if they do, I warn them to tread carefully. Trader Toast do not have a “Skull and Crossbones” flag at every draft for no reason.
