![]() Week 2 finds us with 2 teams that are undefeated and 2 that are winless. The rest of us are treading water at 1-1. The waiver wire is humming right along. The Dream Team sound their first “W” and their first helmet, however the EAGLES gave a game away last night and that pain is still very fresh in my mind. So, you may want to venture elsewhere if you are seeking positive vibes. There were a couple of errors in last week’s notes, the account balance for the Shop was incorrect and I missed a transaction for the Wranglers last week, both are corrected. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Good Fellas will try to stretch that winning streak to 2 against the Croatans. The Fightin’ Irish will try to remain undefeated with a win over the Black & Blue Attack. The Body Shop will try to stay above the money line by beating the Money Takers. The Black Assassins will strive to remain undefeated at the expense of the Roxborough Wranglers. The Dream Team will try to keep the Jelly Beans winless. Spock won the contest last year so he gets top billing. Norm’s lines (my estimates) appear above. Spock’s locks appear below:
C -1 GF (223) RW -2 BA (252) There were no games decided on Sunday, all 5 had a little Monday Night Madness (well some more than others). The Good Fellas the EAGLES and a 41.6 point lead were too much for the Bosy Shop and Bijan Robinson on Monday night. The Fellas did not get much out if the EALES defense (neither did us fans), but they contained Robinson enough for the Good Fellas to notch their first “W”. The Fellas were led by Dak, Nabers, Kittle and McPherson (what is it with kickers this year). The Shop was led by Mahomes (Aubrey just missed 20 points). Coach Casey admits that benching Ridley in favor of Robinson was a costly mistake. The Dream Team and a 37.9 lead out lasted the Black & Blue Attack and Jake the Make on Monday night. I have to admit I was rooting for one more 5+ point FG for Elliot in the last minute of Week 2. The Drema Team was led by the sun god and an MVP performance by Kamara (shades of Christmases past). The Attack we led by Nico and Jeferson in the loss. The Attack’s best lineup would have kept them undefeated and given them the week 2 helmet. |
The Money Takers and a 47.5 point lead held off the Roxborough Wranglers and Pitts on Monday night. Pitts reverted to the Arthur Smith version and came up short (what is the story with TEs in 2024). The Takers were led by Hall and Fairbairn (39 points – really??). The Wrangles has some better options in the bench (Cook), but even their best lineup would not have kept them undefeated. YTW, according to leagues historian, Coach Casey, he is pretty sure the Takers have the worst week of Coaching, benching five 20+ point players (including the Cardinal Double Bubble). The Black Assassins, London and a 12.7-point lead were too much for the Jelly beans and Barkley on Monday night. Basically, Barkley and London pushed and the Assassins remained undefeated. The Assassins won despite not having one 29-point starter. The Beans were led by Godwin in their second loss of the season. A Burrow and Jeudy start would have put both teams in that huge 1-1 traffic jam in the standings, instead the 2 teams find themselves on opposite ends of the standings. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Fightin’ Irish and the Croatans. The Irish, Hurts, the Slim Reaper and Koo faced a 33.8 deficit against the Croatans going into Monday night. The EAGLE double bubble kept the Irish undefeated (too bad they could not do the same for the Philadelphia football team). The Irish were led by the aforementioned EAGLE double-bubble and Lamb. The Croatans were led by Flowers in the loss. The Croatans best lineup (Achane over Harris – I can see that and Dowdle over the Cheetah – not so much) would have had both teams at 1-1 instead of opposite ends of the standings. As it is, the Croatans find themselves in last place and the Irish are undefeated in a tie for first place (have to admit, if the Dream Team can’t win the 2024 title, I am pulling for the Irish).
