SPOCK'S LOCK FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 17 finds the season all but done. There is one team that has clinched a Money spot and 4 teams have been reduced to only playing spoiler or playing for the Week 18 helmet. One nice fact, there is a possibility for nay one of the current money teams to gran the top spot in the last week. Much like the rest of the 2024 season, The EAGLES win and the Dream Team lost, so another mixed-mood version of the note. I hope all enjoyed their Christmas holiday and which everyone a Happy New Year.

The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive content. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Match-ups to watch this Week

In a family affair, the Jelly Beans will try to sweep the Good Fellas and look for a little help from the Dream Team. The Fightin’ Irish and defending Champion Black Assassins meet in a game that will decide who gets a chance to leapfrog any Money teams that slip up in week 18. The Body Shop will try to sweep the Dream Team and lock up the 2024 Championship. The Croatans will try to sweep the Money Takers and with some help maybe lock up the trophy. The Roxborough Wranglers will try to avenge their early season loss to the Black & Blue Attack and again with a little help maybe grab the trophy.

Spock was 3 of 5, making him 3 of 75 (44%) this year. He regains top billing. Norm (my picks) was 2 of 5 last week making him 33 of 75 (44%) this year. His lines appear below:

GF -1 JB (261)     MT -1  C (265)
FI -2 BA (264)     BB -2 RW (262)
DT -9 BS (279)

Two games were decided on Sunday, the other three had some Monday Night Madness (well 1 did for sure).

The Body Shop had the “W” in hand as they faced the Black & Blue Attack on Monday night with Jennings in their back pocket. The Shop was led by Nix, Robinson, Thomas and Thielen (there is a blast from the past) as they completed the season sweep of the Attack, clinched a money spot and grabbed the inside track to the Championship with only 1 week to go. The Attack was led by Co-MVP (3 this week) Mayfield in the loss. There were some better options on the Attack bench, but not enough to flip the script.

The Jelly Beans avenged their early season loss to the Fightin’ Irish. The Beans were led by Burrow, Henry, McMillan and Pittman (nice call on those 2 WRs) as they all but eliminated the Irish from a money spot, pretty much locked up the total points title for the season and are very much still in the mix for a Championship. The Irish were led by Young and Kelce in the loss. The Irish best lineup would have been just short of swapping spots with the Beans.

The defending champion Black Assassins, Gibbs, the Sun God and a 48-point lead proved to be way too much for the Miney Takers and LaPort on Monday night. The Assassins were led by Daniels, Gibbs, Irving and the Sun God as they completed the season sweep of the Takers and kept their money hopes alive (not strong but alive). The Takers failed to field a 10-point starter.

The Good Fellas, Kittle, Baters and 26.6-point lead held off the Roxborough Wranglers and Purdy in Minday night. The Fellas avenged their early season loss to the Wranglers and grabbed their 2nd helmet of the year largely due to the efforts of Jones and Co-MVP efforts of Nabers and Higgins. The Wranglers lost despite the efforts of Purdy and Evans. The Wranglers fielded a close to optimal lineup, so there was not a lot of help on the bench. The Wranglers are hoping for a bug week 18 and some help to maybe grab the trophy.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Croatans and the Dream Team. OK, not a real standings impact but the Croatans are still in the Miney and it was also the closed game “almost” decided on Monday night. It is also probably my last chance to employ the Commissioner’s privilege. The Croatans and a 30.1-point lead barely held off the Dream Team, Williams and the 49ERS on Monday Night. The 49ERS were blah, but Jamo came close to giving the Dream Team the come from behind victory. The Croatans were led by Action Jackson and Nacua as they completed the season sweep of the Dream Team and kept their Championship hopes alive (they need a win and a little more help than the rest of the contenders, but they are indeed still in contention). The Dream Team was led by Allen, Taylor and Williams in the loss. Although the Dream Team did not have a lot of help on the bench (most being injured), they did not need much either. A Darnold or Lockett start would have given them what they needed.
