![]() Week 16 finds us with only 2 games remaining. Seven teams are still alive for a money spot (reasonably). The other 3 are eliminated or need a Christmas miracle to get in. The Dream Team won and the EAGLES lost (been a while since I said that). So, the Notes will be neutral. Want to take this little space to wish all int SWFFL a very merry Christmas. And speaking of Xmas, make sure you set your Xmas lineups after the gift giving but before the Xmas meal. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive content. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Roxborough Wranglers look to keep that top spot by sweeping the Good Fellas. The Body Shop will try to keep their championship hopes alive by completing the season sweep of the Black & Blue Attack. The Croatans will try to get another streak going by sweeping the Dream Team. The defending champion Black Assassins needs to sweep the Money Takers this week to keep their money hopes alive. The Jelly Beans will look to get back in that championship run by sweeping the Fightin’ Irish. Norm (my picks) was 2 of 5 last week making him 31 of 70 (44%) this year. He retains top billing. Spock was 2 of 5, making him 30 of 70 (43%) this year. His locks appear below:
RW -6 GF (254) BA -19 MT (253) Two games were decided on Sunday, the other three had some Monday Night Madness (well 1 did for sure). The Black & Blue Attack had already wrapped up the win against the Croatans and still had Miller to come on Monday night. Interestingly, as the Black & Blue swept the Croatans, they are also the last team to beat the Croatans. The Attack was led by Mayfield, Hibbard, Jefferson, Jaxon and Bowers as they scored their 4th helmet of the year and snapped the Croatans 8 game winning streak. The Croatans were led by Action Jackson and Achane as they dropped out of the money. The Croatans had some better options on the bench but none that would have kept that streak alive. The Body Shop completed the season sweep of the Jelly Beans largely due to the efforts of Nix, Bijan, Thomas and Aubrey (with a 41 point week it is getting harder and harder to ridicule that 5th round pick). The Beans were eld by Burrow, Barkley, Henry and AJ in the loss that dropped them out of the top spot. In a battle of team vying for the trophy, both teams bought their A games (both clearing 140 points). A McMillan and Schultz (over Jeudy and Hockenson) start would have kept the Beans in the top spot. |
The defending champion Black Assassins and a 42.5-point lead proved to be too much for the Good Fellas and the PACKERS on Monday night. The Assassins were led by Goff, Conner, Gibbs and Scary Terry as they completed the season sweep of the Fellas. The Fellas were led by Mac Joines as they became the second team eliminated from the Money. Ther ewer a couple of better options on the bench for the Fellas but they would not have changed the outcome. The Dream Team and a 41.5-point lead held off the Money Takers and Reed on Monday night. The Dream Team was led by William and an MVP performance by Taylor (who held on to the ball as he crossed the goal line 3 times). The Takers failed to field a 20-point starter and though they had several better options on the bench, even their best lineup would not have avoided the season sweep by the Dream Team. So, the Dream Team stays alive for one more week. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Roxborough Wranglers and the Fightin’ Irish. Besides being the closest game, it also was the only game between money teams. The Wranglers, Love and a9.5-point lead barely held off the Irish and Jacobs on Monday night. The Wranglers were led by Chase as they climbed back to the top of the standings. The Irish were led by Cook in the loss that evicted them from the money. It looked like Jacobs may have been able to get the job done, but he largely disappeared during the second half (probably because the SAINTS offense disappeared for the whole game – first NFL team to get shoutout this year). The Irish were largely hindered by the early exit of Hurts as well. A Keenan Allen over the Slim Reaper (apparently, he cost the EAGLES as well as the Irish) would have kept the Irish in the money. So to sum it up, a Hurts slide in the first quarter, a SAINTS offense with a heartbeat or DeVonta not dropping that pass in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter of the EAGLES game, any of these things would have probably kept the Irish in the money. <CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
