SPOCK'S LOCKS FORMAT- Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 14 finds 2 teams at the top and all but 2 teams within 2 games of a money spot with 4 weeks to go. Some housekeeping. When a player gets released they are on waivers for 48 hours (starts Tuesday morning for bulletin board transactions). During the waiver period teams can post waiver board claims on the bulletin board or wait out the waiver period and try to grab him first when he clears waivers (depends on where you are in the standings and how risk adverse you are). You should provide a person to cut (which you can change – unlike a bulletin board transaction). The trade deadline has passed – so ends our most active season of trading. The dreaded BYE weeks have also ended. All that is left is weird scheduling like 2 Monday night games this week and Saturday games and things like that. On a bright note, the EAGLES won (despite under-performing) and the Dream Team finally found a “W” again (but is it too little too late?)

The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive content. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Match-ups to watch this Week

In a family affair, the Dream Team will try to complete the season sweep of the Good Fellas. The Fightin’ Irish will try to climb back above the money line by sweeping out the Money Takers. In a battle of money teams, the Body Shop will try to keep their Championship hopes alive by avenging their early season loss to the Roxborough Wranglers. In the second annual Black Bowl the Black & Blue Attack look to sweep the defending champion Black Assassins. The Jelly Beans will try to keep that top spot by completing the sweep of the red hot Croatans.

Spock was 3 of 5, making him 27 of 60 (45%) this year. He retains top billing. Norm (my picks) was 3 of 5 last week making him 26 of 55 (43%) this year. His lines appear below:

DT -9 GF (269)     BA -1 BB (255)
MT -1 FI (253)      C -2 JB (252)
RW -2 BS (256)

One game was decided on Sunday, the other four had some Monday Night Madness (most definitely for 2 or 3).

The Good Fellas had already locked up the victory against the Money Takers and the still had Higgins in their back pocket in Monday night. The Fellas were led by Williams and Kittle as they avenged their early season loss to the Takers and took one step out of the basement. The Takers failed to field a 20-point scorer and there was none on the bench either (partly injuries – partly BYEmageddon part 2).

The Croatans, Dawdle and a 74.1 point lead were a bit too much for the Wranglers, Brown, Chase and Ferguson. The Croatans were led by the Cheetah (about time) and Nakua as they notched their first helmet, avenged their early season loss to the Wranglers and won their 7th game in a row. The Wranglers came close as the Bengal Chase connection put up big numbers on Monday night to add on to Guerendo’s work in Sunday. Those big points by Addison on the bench would have kept the Wranglers in a tie for first.

The Dream Team and 39.7 point lead proved to be too much for the Fightin’ Irish and CeeDee on Monday night. Got to admit the first Tim Dwight-like drive scared me, but fortunately Lamb finished like a Lamb. The Dream Team was led by an MVP performance by Allen and a nice performance by Kupp. The Irish was led by Hurts, Jacobs and Lamb in the loss that dropped them out of the money. An Adams start would have given the Iris the season sweep of the Dream Team and kept them in a tie for first place.

The Body Shop, Aubrey and the COWBOYS looked like a lock to overcome a 12.8-point lead by Black Assassins in Monday night. The COWPOKE made the Shop wait until the first play of the 4th quarter to seal the deal. The Shop were led by Murray, Robinson and Jennings as they avoided the sweep by the Assassins. The Assassins were eld by Charbonet and Conners in the loss. A Goff start over Levis would have flipped the script (really Levis over Goff??)

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the Black & Blue Attack. The Beans and Burrow faced a 41.3-point deficit to the Attack going into Monday night. With 3 minutes left things were looking dire for the Beans as the Bengals were punting the ball away. The punt was blocked almost assuring a Aubrey FG of end the game but then the ghost of Leon Lett raised his hand and forced one on the COWBOYS to touch the ball after I crossed the line of scrimmage. Prime Time, COWBOYS – the only thing missing was the Thanksgiving snow. 3 plays later Burrow put the final nail in the COWBOYS and Attack coffins, a la Webster Slaughter. The Beans were led by Burrow, White, Box-shake Jeudy and Waddle as they held on to the top spot and completed the season sweep of the Attack. The Attack was led by Mayfield and Jefferson, Bigsby over Deebo would have done the trick, but that would have been a bold move.
