![]() Week 11 finds 5 teams with a game of first place and 8 teams within a game of a money spot. In fact, the whole league is within 2 games of a money spot. It is quite remarkable that the league is this close after 11 weeks. Another trade this week, II think we have set a record for the number of trades this year. Normally we only have one or more likely none. The EAGLES won and the Dream Team lost so notes will probably be so-so. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive content. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Croatans will try to avenge their week 3 loss to the Good Fellas. The Fightin’ Irish will try to keep a piece of the top spot by avenging their early season loss to the Black & Blue Attack. The Body shop will try to jump above the money line by sweeping the Money Takers. The Roxborough Wranglers will try to keep the top spot by sweeping out the Black Assassins. In a family affair the Jelly Beans will try to keep their money spot by sweeping the Dream Team. Norm (my picks) was 3 of 5 last week making him 20 of 45 (44%) this year. He retains top billing. Spock was 2 of 5, making him 19 of 45 (42%) this year. His locks appear below:
GF -1 C (249) RW -6 BA (264) One game was decided on Sunday, the other 4 games had a little Monday Night Madness (actually most did). The Jelly Beans avenged their week 2 season loss to the Black Assassins. The Beans were led by Burrow, Barkley and Jeudy (apparently, he took offense to Coach Toast’s comment earlier this year – something about shaking a box and a dozen Jeudy’s fell out). If that is not Fantasy God Karma, I do not know what is. The Assassins were led by the sun God and an MVP performance by Goff. A McConkey or Shakir start would have had the Assassins in the money instead of the Beans. The Assassins have dropped 3 in a row. The Croatans and a 60.1-point lead held off the Figthin’ Irish, Lamb and the Texans on Monday night. The Croatans avenged their early season loss primarily on the strength of the performance by Montgomery and Nacua. The Irish, led by Jacobs, remained in a tie for first place despite the loss which snapped a 3 game winning streak. The Irish had some better options on the bench, but none that would have avoided the ‘L’. This one never really was close but I bet the Croatans HQ started to pay more attention to the game after the TEXANS scoop and score. The Croatans held on and have now won 4 in a row. |
The Money Takers, Dell and Fairbarn eclipsed a 12.9-point lead by the Roxborough Wranglers on Monday night, completing the season sweep. The Takers were led by Herbert and Hall in the much-needed victory. The Wranglers were led by Purdy, Dobbins and Chase in the loss. The Wranglers held on to the top spot even with the loss. The Wranglers had very little help on the bench. It took a lot of Commissioner restraint not to give “GOW” honors to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the Dream Team (again). The Attack, Stroud, Mixon and Collins easily overcame a 38.5-point lead by the Dream Team on Minday night. In fact, Mixon pretty much did it all on his own and he all but the nail in the Dream Team coffin in the first quarter. Mixon was helped by very nice performances by Bowers and Boswell. The Dream Team was led by Allen, Kupp and Wiliams. The Dream Team had plenty of bullets in the bench and one might wonder if they were trying to start their worst lineup. Believe it or not, there was a serious discussion about putting Taysom in there. In the end we went with Chubb – what a mistake. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Good Fellas and the Body Shop. The Fellas and a 12.1-point lead barely held off the Shop, Aubrey and the COWBOYS on Monday night. The Fellas were led by Higgins as they snapped a 6-game losing streak, and it looked to be 7 going into Monday night. The Shop was led by Mahomes and Jennings in the loss that dropped them out of the money. Aubrey slipped on a very makeable FG when his plant foot slipped on newly laid turf (the Tyson fight a gift keeps on giving). Then he made a 64-yard FG, the COWBOYS brain trust took off the board due to a TEXAN personal foul. They continued the drive down into the Red Zone and then failed on a fourth and two incompletion. After that, it was clear there would be n0 more FG attempts and probably no PATS. Unlike the NFL COWBOYS, the Shop fell by a very small 2.1 points. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
