SPOCK'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Well, here we go again. Our 36th season is under way. It was nice seeing everyone at the draft. I want to thank my partner Norm (and his wife Sue) for hosting us again this year. The waiver wire seems very active as is normal for the first week of the season. The EAGLES won and the Dream Team lost, so emotionally we are looking at a mixed bag this week.

The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Match-ups to watch this Week

The Body Shop will try to stay undefeated by defeating the Good Fellas. The Fightin’s Irish will try to keep their early season success going in week 2 against the Croatans. The Black & Blue Attack will try to add to the Dream Team miseries in week 2. The Wranglers will try to keep that good start going against the Money Takers. The Black Assassins will try to continue their early season success at the expense of the Jelly Beans.

Spock beat Norm (my estimates) in the battle of the odds makers last year. They will renew their annual battle of wits next week. Spock’s lines appear above, but they will not count in the 2024 Odds Maker battle.

Once again, I did that analysis based on last year's points. It is 55 out 116 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player, then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the old website for details on what players made up your “Best Lineup”, and I’ve also included the CBS gurus analysis as well on old website.

There was only 1 game decided on Sunday, the other 4 had a little Monday Night Madness (well at least a couple did).

The Body Shop was led by Mahomes, Pollard, Walker and 5th round pick Aubrey in their week 1 win over the Croatans. The Croatans put up a decent amount of point the loss due to mainly to the efforts of Jackson and the Miamai duo of Achane and Hill. Fifth round was still too early, but Aubrey beat Sanders by 16 points and that was in fact more than the margin of victory. So crazy or crazy like a fox. I know where I come down on that issue.

The Fightin’ Irish carried a 36.5 point lead into Monday night against the Good Fellas Kittle and McCaffrey. It would have been a huge lift, but it pretty much became impossible when Run CMC showed up as Inactive CMC. The Irish were led by Hurts in the victory. The Fellas failed to field a 20-point starter.

In a family affair, the Black & Blue Attack, Deebo and a 31.6 point lead proved to be too much for the Money Takers and Breece on Monday night. The Monday nighters pretty much pushed, and the wise & elder Attack outlasted the youthful Takers. The Attack were led by Stroud and Mixon as the Takers had no 20-point starters.

There were 2 pretty good candidate for “GOW”, but I could not pull the Commissioner’s prerogative trigger. The Black Assassins, JETS and a 3.8 point lead barely held off the Dream Team and the 49ERS on Monday night. The Assassins were led by Stevenson, Williams and an MVP performance by Josh Allen. The Dream Team were led by Richardson, Kamara and Kuppas they fell a last minute dropped interception (or a Diggs start) of pulling out the victory.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Roxborough Wranglers and the Jelly Beans. The Beans looked like they had the week 1 W and the Helmet locked as they carried a 41.3 point lead int Monday night against the Wranglers, Wilson and Moody in Monday night. Wilso was OK but Moody put up a huge number and the Wranglers squeezed out the “W” and the helmet. The Wranglers were led by Love, Evans and Moody in the come from behind victory. The Beans finished up as the 2nd highest scoring team in week 1 thanks to the performances by Tua, Saquon and Brown. A Godwin start would have put a damper on all that Monday night excitement.
