![]() Week 9 finds a log jam at the top of the standings with 4 teams tied for first at 6-3. Just a reminder, Week 11’s Sunday deadline is also the traded deadline. So, less than 2 weeks to wheel and deal. The EAGLES won and the Dream Team also won. Neither game was a work of art, but they don’t ask how you won, they just ask how many you won. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Black Assassin will try to avenge their week 1 loss to the Body Shop in a matchup of opposite ends of the standings. In a family affair, the defending champion Good Fellas will try to sweep the Jelly Beans. The Dream Team will try to avenge their early season loss to the Fightin’ Irish. The Croatans will try to complete the season sweep of the Money Takers. In a battle of money teams the Roxborough Wranglers will try to complete the season sweep of the Black & Blue Attack. Norm (my picks) was 4 of 5 last week, making him 19 of 35 (54%) this year. He retains top billing. Spock was 4 of 5 last week, making him 20 of 35 (57%) this year. His locks appear below:
BA -21 BS (265) C -7 MT (251) There were no games decided on Sunday, all 5 had a little Monday Night Madness (well some of them did). The Black Assassins defeated the Roxborough Wranglers in what was essentially a mid-season Super Bowl (1st place vs., 2nd place). The Assassins and 57.3-point lead were too much for the Wranglers, Wilson and the CHARGERS on Monday night. The Assassins scored their 4th helmet (2nd in a row) and climbed in to first place thanks in large part by the efforts of Burrow and Lamb. The Wranglers were led by Watson, Cooper and the CHARGERS. The Body Shop and a 49-point lead was a bit to0 much for the Croatans and Ekeler on Monday night. The Shop ended that horrible 7 game losing streak primarily because of the efforts of Dak and White. The Croatans were led by Diggs and Ferguson in the loss. If you want to proof of how bad the BYE weeks are just take a gander at all the goose eggs on the benches of both of these teams. |
The defending champion Good Fellas and a 35.9-point lead held off Breece Hall and the Money Takers on Monday night, The Fellas were led by Allen, McLaughlin and the BROWNS as they continued their climb back to .500. The Takers were led by Mahomes, Koo and Diontae (welcome back) in the loss. The Takers best lineup (JSN and Stevenson over Shaheed and Waddle) would have had the Takers winning their 3rd game in a row. The Dream Team and a 33-point lead were up against the Jelly Beans, Hebert and Allen on Monday night. It looked gloomy, but even the CBS Guru gave the Dream Team a 49% chance of winning. The JETS held the CHARGERS in check for most of the game. But the Beans came up on Herbert to Allen TD away from winning. And this Commissioner will admit he was extremely worried with 3 minutes left in the game, when the CHARGES returned a fumble recovery to the 2 yard line. Fortunately for the Dream Team, Ekeler immediately ran that one in. The rest of the game consisted of the JETS coming up short on a garbage time drive and Herbert taking a knee. The Dream Team was led by Taysom Hill as they moved back into a tie for first place. The Beans failed to field a 20-point starter. A Kmet start would have had the Beans winning this Family Affair. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the Fightin’ Irish. The Attack, the JETS and a 6.4-point lead barely held off the Irish and Greg the Leg on Monday night. Apparently, the Commissioner was not the only one that had to suffer through the full Monday night game. However, it became pretty clear that the JETS were probably done kicking field goals in the 4th quarter. But this game was close enough that a couple of extra points could have changed the outcome. The Attack was led by Hurts as they kept pace with the 6-3 crowd in first place. The Irish failed to field a 20-point starter, however Baker was on the bench with his 20 plus points. A Mayfield start would have had the Irish in that 4-way tie for first place instead of the Attack. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
