![]() Week 7 finds us with a 4-way tie for first place. The majority of teams are within 2 games of a Money Spot. Even the last pace team, is only 4 games out (and he is getting insider information from Matthew Barry, so you know he is on his way up the standings . . . not). The EAGLES won but the Dream Team lost. I was hoping a Phillies Pennant would break the title, but apparently, I will have to wait until tonight for that. So, these notes may be a just a touch on the gloomy side. And just a reminder. The Injured Reserve is for COVID only. Although, given the new IR rules in the NFL, maybe we should add a general IR spot or 2. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Black Assassins and Black & Blue Attack will meet in the semi-annual Black bowl. The Fightin’ Irish will try to keep up with the 5-2 pack by defeating the defending champion Good Fellas. The Jelly Beans will try to get back to .500 at the expense of the Money Takers. The Dream Team will try to hold on to that top spot in the standings by defeating the Croatans. The Roxborough Wranglers will try to hold on to that last Money spot by beating the Body Shop. Spock was 4 of 5 last week, making him 15 of 25 (60%) this year. He regains top billing. Norm (my picks) was 0 of 5 last week, making him 12 of 25 (48%) this year. His lines appear below:
BA -1 BB (255) DT -9 C (265) There were 4 games decided on Sunday, the other 1 had a little Monday Night Madness. The Black & Blue Attack notched their 5th “W” in a row against the Body Shop. The Attack had a 0.1 point going into Monday night and they still had Kittle and Mattison. The Attack was led by the EAGLE double-bubble (which was pronounced as their key to success on Draft Day). The “W” put them in that 4-way tie for first place at 5-2. What can we say about the Body Shop? Well probably the best thing we can say is Coach Casey made it to the small screen (if you count streaming service as TV and at this point who does not) on the Matthew Berry pre-game show. Unfortunately, Berry failed to tell Coach Casey that the RB from his beloved Commanders (still cannot get used to that) team was not feeling well (really not feeling well). The Shop was led by Nacua in their 6th loss in a row. The Shop only had 2 players on their bench to score points and they both put up 20+ points and would have ended the skid. Lawrence over Carr – sure – very possible, Waller over Bijan – maybe if you knew Bijan was under the weather. |
The Fightin’ Irish had the victory over the Jelly Beans wrapped up and they still had Hockenson, Moody and the 49ERS to come on Monday night. The Irish were led by Love and the Cheetah as they joined the log jam in first place. The Beams were led by Evans as they dropped below .500. The Beans had some better options on the bench, but none that would have changed the outcome. The Money Takers had already halted the Dream Team winning streak and the still had Addison going on Monday night. Addison may not have been needed for the “W”, but he joined the CHIEF double bubble (who combined for almost 80 points) in garnering the Takers first helmet of the year. The Dream Team was led by Action Jackson and Kamara as they fell back into that 4-way tie for first. Nobody on the Dream Team bench would have kept the winning streak alive. The Black Assassins, Run CMC and a 65.6-point lead were way too much for the Croatans, Purdy and Aiyuk on Monday night. The Assassins were led by Etienne, Ford, Kirk, Andrews and Run CMC as they edged closer to a money spot. The Croatans failed to field a 20-point starter. There was not a lot of help on the bench either. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Roxborough Wranglers and the defending champion Good Fellas. Although this game did not have any Monday night players, it was the closest contest and involved a money team. The Wranglers were led by Barkley, the Sun God and Gibbs (welcome to the SWFFL rookie). The “W” put them in that 4-way tie for first place. The Fellas were led by Allen in the loss. Despite the closeness of the game, the Fellas best lineup would have still come up short.
