![]() Week 6 finds the first trade of the 2023 season. The (in this Commissioner’s view) Roxborough Wranglers fleeced the Body Shop. Gibbs and Pierce are a wash but I still believe Gibbs has more upside (especially after the post-trade injury of Montgomery). St. Brown is clearly better than Ridley, as long as he stays healthy. One other housekeeping issue, The Wranglers wanted to pick up Jeff Willson on Saturday, no problem there. They wanted to cut Russell Wilson, but CBS would not allow them to do that because Wilson had already played on Thursday. The Wranglers did NOT start Wilson. He asked me if he could cut Wilson. In the olden days with phone transactions, I would have had no problem with this transaction (since Wilson was not started by the Wranglers). I told him to post the transaction on the bulletin board and I would process it as soon as it hit. Now, since Jeff Wilson did not play, it made little difference whether this transaction happened Saturday or Tuesday of Week 7. I may not always be immediately available for that kind of interaction (but I usually am not far from my computer). Also, some thought the transaction was not legitimate. We already are not really following CBS rules for transactions, and historically I would have allowed it. So, it is not against our current rules. If somebody wants to issue a new rule, we can vote on it. BYE the way 6 teams are off this week. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Croatans and Black Assassins meet in a battle of ex-partners. The Black & Blue Attack will try to keep pace with the Dream Team by beating the “panicky” Body Shop. The Fightin’ Irish will try to defend their shiny new money slot against the Jelly Beans. The Dream Team will try to keep top spot in the standings by defeating the Money Takers. The Roxborough Wranglers will try to keep hold on to that last money spot against the Good Fellas. Norm (my picks) was 3 of 5 last week, making him 12 of 20 (60%) this year. He retains top billing. Spock was 3 of 5 last week, making him 11 of 20 (55%) this year. His locks appear below:
BA -1 C (263) DT -36 MT (264) There was only 1 game decided on Sunday, the other 4 had a little Monday Night Madness, well some of them did. The Black & Blue Attack notched their 4th “W” in a row against the defending champion Good Fellas. The Attack was led by the EAGLE double bubble (glad they helped get win somewhere), with an assist from Thielen. The Fellas were led by King Henry (appropriately in London) in the loss. The Fellas best lineup (Shults over Hopkins) would have had the Fellas winning this battle of our 2 most recent champions. |
The Black Assassins. Lamb and a 23.6-point lead proved to be too much for the Money Takers and Plamer on Monday night. The Assassins were led by Tua, Etienne and Butker as they climbed to the .500 line. The Takers were led by Hal, London and Kelce in the loss and there was not enough help on the bench. The Dream Team and a 45.9-point lead were too much for the Body Shop, Aubrey and the COWBOYS on Monday night. The Dream Team was led by Mostert as they posted their 5th “W” in a row. The Shop failed to field a 20-point starter in their 4th “L” in a row, though they traded one (St. Brown) away and they benched Tucker in London where they primarily kick a ball in their version of “football”. The Fightin Irish, Pollard and a 36.8-point lead were too much for the Croatans, Ekeler and Ferguson on Monday night. The Irish were led by the Cheetah as they climbed back above the money line. Williams and Diggs led the Croatans, who had better options on the bench, but not enough to make a difference. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the Roxborough Wranglers. The Beans, Herbert and Allen barely overcame a 43.4-point lead on Monday night. They had to sweat it out until the 4th quarter, but in the end the Beans prevailed due to Hebert, Allen and a little early help by Kupp. The Wranglers were led by Howell and St. Brown in the loss. The Wranglers left a couple of bullets on the bench that would have kept them in a tie for first. In fact, they only had 3 bench players that had scored points and any one of them would have changed the outcome of the game. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
