NORM'S LINES (my picks) FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 4 finds only one winless team and no undefeated teams. The waiver-wire has cooled a bit, but the dreaded BYE weeks start this week, so that should heat the wire back up. Also, another dreaded Sunday morning game is also on the slate this week. I do not mind games in Europe but can’t they be night games there so that they are a reasonable time here in the states. The EAGLES and the Dream Team eked out a couple of W’s this week and they both are atop their respective standings. I think these notes are going to be fun.

The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Match-ups to watch this Week

The Dream Team will try to keep that spot as they take on the Black Assassins a battle of the most recent helmet winners. The Body Shop and Money Takers meet up in a battle to get out of the basement. The defending champions Good Fellas and Croatans met in a battle of .500 teams. The Jelly Beans will try to hold off the Black & Blue Attack in another battle of .500 teams. The Fightin’ Irish and Roxborough Wranglers and Fightin’ Irish will meet up as the only contest between money teams and 2 teams that just suffered their first defeat.

Norm (my picks) was 4 of 5 last week making him 6 of 10 (60%) this year. He gains top billing. Spock was 2 of 5 last week making him 5 of 10 (50%) this year. His locks appear below:

DT  -9 BA (258)     BB -2 JB (256)
BS -22 MT (244)     FI -6 RW (240)
 C -17 GF (263)

There were 3 games decided on Sunday, the other 2 had a little Monday Night Madness.

The Black Assassins handed the Fightin’ Irish their first defeat largely due to an MVP effort by Run CMC And an assist by Mark Andrews. The Irish were led by Love in this rather lopsided affair. In fact, the Assassins nabbed their first helmet of the year and outscored the entire Irish roster.

The Black & Blue Attack handed the Money Takers their 4th L of the year and still had Metcalf on Monday night. The Attack was led by Hurts, Achane and a stand-out performance by AJ Brown. Hurts to Brown – that was the draft plan right Attack? In another game, the Takers and Mahomes only managed 68 points. I looked that is the lowest single game score since week 8 of 2021. The Attack also outscore the Taker roster. I guess the days of letting your kid win have long since passed in the Brown family.

The Dream Team had Walker on Monday night, but they had already wrapped up the victory against the formerly undefeated Roxborough Wranglers. The Dream Team was led by Action Jackson, Kamara and Jake Elliot (might be the Dream Team MVP) as they climbed into first place. The Wranglers were led by Wilson and Moore in their first loss of the year. The Wrangler played a nearly perfect lineup, but their perfect lineup (Hebert over Cooper) would have had kept the Wranglers undefeated and put them at the top of the standings.

The defending champion Good Fellas and a 14.9 point lead were able to hold off the Body Shop and Waller on Monday night. Having experienced “Waller” disappointments over the last 2 years, I did not hold out a lot of hope for the Shop. The Fellas were led by Allen, King Henry and Jefferson as they climbed back to the .500 level. The Body Shop was led Nacu and the COWBOYS. Coach Cassey, you still drafted the COWBOYS too early. The draft is more about evaluating where you can get that high scorer, not that they are high scorers. Collins over Waller would have had Coach Casey smiling on Sunday night instead of crying on Monday night.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Croatans and the Jelly Beans. This was the closest game of the week, involved a money team and was a fairly high scoring game. The Croatans, Myers and a 10.6 lead proved to be too much for the Beans and Lockett on Monday night. The 2 teams traded points back and forth but in the end the Beans finished one decent sized TD form Locket short of the goal line. The Croatans were led by Pursy, Williams, Aiyuk and Diggs as they climbed back to the .500. The Beams were led by Herbert, Jacobs and Kmet in the loss. Scary Terry (over Williams or Evans) would have had the Beams in a 4-way tie for first place. It may not have made a difference if Evans did not get hurt in the first half.
