![]() Week 17 has found the standings firming up a bit. Three of the money teams have been decided with 2 teams fighting for the final spot. There are 2 things to remember going int week 18, that barring a huge point swing, the championship is still up to 3 teams and week 18 is consolation prize week. So, this is still a very important week. As for the demeanor of the notes, the EAGLES lost horribly and the COWBOYS won (thanks refs), However, the Dream Team won, clinched a money spot and are still alive for the championship. So, I am thinking positively. Finally, Happy New Years to all. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Black Assassins will try to complete the sweep of the Roxborough Wranglers and take home the trophy. The Croatans will try to avoid being swept by the Body Shop. The defending champions (last week for that) Good Fellas will try to complete the season sweep of the Money Takers. In a family affair, the Dream Team will try to sweep the Jelly Beans and root hard for the Wranglers. The Black & Blue Attack will try to sweep the Fightin’ Irish and hope for a lot of help elsewhere. Norm (my picks) was 4 of 5 last week, making him 39 of 75 (52%) this year. He regains top billing. Spock was 3 of 5 last week, making him 42 of 75 (56%) this year. His locks appear below:
BA -7 RW (267) DT -13 JB (257) No Monday night games this week or next. So, Monday night madness has gone into hibernation until next year. The Black Assassins swept the Black & Blue Attack, notched their 6th helmet (most since Black & Blue won 7 helmets in 2014) and climbed back into first place. This game was most likely going to be GOW, but then they actually played the game and the need triple-digit margin of victory changed all that. The Assassins were led by Love, Etienne, Lamb and Likely in the big victory. The black & Blue Attack were les by Hurts in the loss (he failed to win the NFL and SWFFL) in the loss that dropped them to 3rd place. The Jelly Beans avenged their early season loss to the Money Takers (ensuring their finish in the basement). The Beans were led by Reed. The Takers squandered a nice performance by Breece. There was a little help on the Taker bench but not enough to make a difference. |
The Dream Team avenged their early season loss to the Croatans and kept their trophy hopes alive. The Dream Team was led by Adams and an MVP performance by Action Jackson. The Croatans lost despite the efforts of Brock, Kyren and Brandon. Despite the closeness of the battle, the Croatans had no game-changing help on the bench. The Roxborough Wranglers completed the season sweep of the Body Shop largely due to the efforts of Flacco (blast form the past), D.J., the Sun God and Butker. The Shop was led by Dak in the loss (and it appears the Berry Blessing has finally faded). Interestingly this game was between the teams in perhaps the most lopsided trade in SWFFL history. If you need further evidence, the Wranglers started both the players they received and the Body Shop, not so much. The Shop had very little help on the bench (including those ex-Wranglers). The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the defending champion (last time) Good Fellas and the Fightin’ Irish. This game was decided by less than 4 points and involved some Sunday night madness (which is poor alternative to Monday night madness – but it is an alternative). It also involved a Money team at the end of last week. The Fellas led by Allen and Flowers in the completion of the season sweep of the Irish. The Irish were led by Baker and the Terminator (James/John its all the same) in the loss. The loss has the Irish money hopes hanging by a thread. A Pachecko start would have had those money line hopes a lot higher (in fact they Irish would have been above the Money Line). CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
