![]() Week 13, unlike last week was a week of blowouts. The closest game was decided by just over 26.5 points. I have to admit, though I love winning by a lot of points, it is more exciting when there are a lot of close games. Speaking of blowouts, the EAGLES lost, but the Dream Team won. So I think the notes will be lean towards upbeat, Just a reminder, the Week 14 lineup deadline is the trade deadline. No more trades after next Sunday at 1:00. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Black Assassin will try to avenge their early season loss to the Dream Team in a battle of money teams. The resurgent Body Shop will try to avenge their early season loss to the Money Takers. The Croatans will look to complete the season sweep of the defending champion Good Fellas. The Black & Blue Attack will try to keep the top spot in the standings by completing the season sweep of the Jelly Beans. The Roxborough Wranglers will try to keep their money spot by sweeping the Fightin’ Irish. Spock was 4 of 5 last week, making him 30 of 55 (55%) this year. He retains top billing. Norm (my picks) was 3 of 5 last week, making him 29 of 50 (53%) this year. His lines (my picks) appear below:
DT -9 BA (269) JB -2 BB (258) Three games were decided on Sunday, the other 2 had a little Monday Night Madness (not so much this week). The Croatans completed the season sweep of the Jelly Beans largely due to the efforts of the 49ERs double bubble. The Beans wasted a nice effort by Nike Evans, he could have used a little more than cardio work out of Scary Terry. As one, might expect in a 50+-point win, the Beans better options on the bench would not have stopped the Bone losing streak which has now hit 3 games. In a case of “Father Knows Best”, the Black & Blue Attack completed the season sweep of the Money Takers. The Attack was led by Hurts, Achane and an MVP performance by Metcalf. The Takers failed to field a 20-point starter and there was not a whole lot of help on their bench either. A 60+ point win by the Attack, might be a bit of a kick in the rear to the cellar dwelling Money Takers. The Dream Team completed the season sweep of the Roxborough Wranglers in a contest between money teams. The Dream Team was led by last second fill-in Geno (Thanks Good Fellas for beating us to Carr by one minute), Kmara and Chase (who finally looked a little like Chase this week). The Wranglers were led by Howell and McBride (who would have thought that at the beginning of the season). In a 68.1 loss there is not usually any help on the bench and that is the case here (am I repeating myself). |
The Fightin’ Irish and a 78.9-point lead easily held off the Black Assassins, Etienne, Kirk and McManus ion Monday night. The Irish were led by Pacheco, the Cheetah, Nacua, Pittman and the Slim Reaper as they avenged their early season loss to the Assassins and notched their second helmet of the year. The Assassins were led by Tua, Run CMC and CeeDee in the loss. The loss knocked the Assassins out of the top spot. In a 51.4-point loss there is rarely a difference maker in the bench and that is true in this case as well (I definitely hear an echo). The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the defending champion Good Fellas. It was the closest game, decided by 26.5 points (which is real nail biter compared to the rest of the games this week). And it had some Monday night madness (not really) as the Shop, Ridley and 48.9 point lead held off the Fellas and Mixon on Monday night. Hey it is not much (but thanks to the elimination of the 20 point TD, once the game got to OT, the Shop seemed to be safe). That is as close as we could get to madness this week. The Shop notched it 3rd win in a row (and 4 out of the last 5) mainly sue tot eh efforts of Dak and LaPorta. The Fellas mini 2-game winning streak was snapped despite the efforts of King Henry, Chuba (nice start) and Mixon. Injuries and BYEmegadon part deux ensured the Good Fellas played their best lineup. Now had the Fellas picked up Geno Smith instead of Derrick Carr, we might be talking about a different team with a 3-game winning streak. So, one might sat this game was decided by a 5 minute discussion by the Dream Team brain trust that cost them Carr and made them go Geno. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
