![]() Well, here we go again. Our 35th season is under way. It was nice seeing everyone at the draft. I want to thank my partner Norm (and his wife Sue) for hosting us again this year. The waiver wire seems sufficiently on fire. The EAGLES won and the Dream Team lost, so emotionally we are looking at a mixed bag this week. One quick reminder. If you pick up a player on the bulleting board. He is yours, even if breaks a little toe 2 plays later. So, if you put it on the board it is a done deal. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Good Fellas will try to remain undefeated at the expense of the Black Assassins. The Body Shop will try to continue to defy the CBS guru by defeating the Jelly Beans. The Fightin’ Irish takes on the last place Money Takers. The Dream Teams meets the Black & Blue Attack, as both are seeking that first “W”. The Croatans (current kings of the hill) will meet the also undefeated Roxborough Wranglers. Spock beat Norm (my estimates) in the battle of the odds makers last year. They will renew their annual battle of wits next week. Spock’s lines appear above, but they will not count in the 2023 Odds Maker battle. Once again, I did that analysis based on last year's points. It is 55 out 112 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player, then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the old website for details on what players made up your “Best Lineup”, and I’ve also included the CBS gurus analysis as well on 50megs.
There were 3 games decided on Sunday, the other 2 had a little Monday Night Madness. The Body Shop has already wrapped up the “W” against the Black Assassins on Sunday with Kincaid still to come on Monday night. The Shop was led by Lawrence, Bij. Robinson and an unreal performance by the COWBOYS. And yes, Coach Casey, that was the best performing 10th round pick, put you they also could have been the best performing 13th-16th round pick. The Assassins were led by Etienne and Run CMC in the loss |
The Fightin’ Irish had already pretty much pummeled the Dream team on Sunday and they still had Rodgers and Greg the Leg on Monday Night. Fortunately for the Iris they did not need any points from Rodgers. The Irish were led by an MVP performance by the Cheetah and a nice performance by Pollard. The Dream team was led by Jake Elliot (which sort of explains the sub-100 performance. The Croatans turned all those draft ratings into gold, as they scored the first helmet of the year against the Money Takers. Ekeler, Aiyuk and Diggs led them to the top of the standings. The Takers were led by Mahomes to the bottom of those standings. The Good Fellas, Josh Allen and a 7.6 point lead proved to be too much for the Jelly Beans, Bass and the BILLS. The Defending Champion Good Fellas were led by Jones and Jefferson as they begin the defense of their title. The Beans were led by Herbert in the loss. A Perine start over Lockett would have flipped the script. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Roxborough Wranglers and the Black & Blue Attack. The Wranglers, Wilson and a 14.4 point lead barely held off the Attack and the JETS on Monday night. The Wranglers were led by Watson and Ridley in their first victory of the year. The Attack were led by the JETS. A Cook or Montgomery start over Higgins would have made that Monday night overtime much more interesting (especially that last play).
