NORM'S LINES FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 6 finds the standings tightening a bit. Well the first place team is still far away from most of us (especially with that point total), bit those other Money spots got a lot closer for most of the league. The Dream Team won, the EAGLES won against the hated COWBOYS and the PHILS are in the NLCS. I must say I have no excuse for any gloom and doom in the notes.

The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Match-ups to watch this Week

The Roxborough Wranglers and Dream Team will meet in battle of teams in the 5-way tie for last place. The Good Fellas will try to keep cruising against the Fightin’ Irish in a contest between both ends of the standings. The Croatans and Black Assassins meet in a battle of former partners and current Money teams. The Jelly Beans will try to hold on their Money spot at the expense of the Money Takers. The defending champion Black & Blue Attack look to get back in the Money by beating the Body Shop (note to Attack, start your Monday night players).

Norm (my estimates) was 2 of 5 last week making him 7 of 20 (35%) for the season. He gains top billing. Spock was 1 of 5 last week making him 10 of 20 (50%) for the season. Spock’s locks appear below:

DT  -2 RW (251)     JB -18 MT (254)
GF -40 FI (260)     BB  -2 BS (254)
 C  -9 BA (257)

There was only 2 games decided on Sunday, the other 3 had a little Monday Night Madness (OK last week’s renaming was not real, although the Body Shop once again . . . ).

The defending champion Black & Blue Attack had already wrapped up the “W” against the Fightin’ Irish, with Sutton and McManus in their back pocket. Stevenson, Chase and Andrews led the Attack back to .500, but just fell short of the helmet. The Irish failed to field a 20-point starter. The Irish had some help on the Bench but not enough as they were hit hard by the BYE, injuries and for one player, Antonio Brown syndrome.

The Money Takers and a 37-point lead easily held off the Roxborough Wranglers and Everett on Monday night. The Takers were led to their first helmet by an MVP performance by Burrow and solid performance by Hall and Diggs. The Wranglers were led by Mahomes in the loss. The Wranglers had some better options on the bench, but not enough to make a difference.

The Dream Team and a 21.9-point lead held off the Croatians and Williams on Monday night. The Dream Team were led by Cook and Gesicki as they finally halted their 4-game losing streak. The Croatans failed to field a 20-point starter and did not break triple digits for the week. Neither team had much of a bench here (in fact the Dream Team had a rough time finding 9 starters) as the BYE and injuries took their toll. Seem to be a lot of zeros on rosters this week and the scoring average sunk below 130. Far too many FG games.

The Black Assassins and Ekeler easily overcame a 5.6-point lead by the Body Shop on Monday night. The Assassins were led by Ekeler as they climbed up in to the 2-way tie for second at 4-2. The Shop was led by Allen and Pittman in their 4th loss in a row. A Pitts over Higbee (among other possible winning moves) would have halted that losing streak. Pitts finally finds the end zone, he did not do much more but he did do that at least. Also, the Fantasy Gods were somewhat merciful on the Shop as Ekeler scored early and allowed the Shop management teams to go to bed early and not have to watch the punt-a-thon last night. Even worked out for Survivor. So not what the Shop wanted, but at least they did not drag it out all night..

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Good Fellas and Jelly Beans. OK there was no Monday night madness here, but it was the closest game of the week and did involve two first place teams. The Good Fellas came down to earth with a pedestrian 117.9 point week, after averaging 167.26 points per game in weeks 1- though 5 (and they can’t really use the BYE as an excuse). The Fellas were led by Jackson and Hill as the became the only 5-1 team in the league. The Beans failed to field a 20-point starter on the week. Unlike the Fellas, the Beans had no help on the bench and in a rare event, in a 4.9 point loss, they did not make any game day starting mistakes.
