![]() Week 5 finds that some teams clearly separating themselves from the rest (some for the good, others not so much). The dreaded BYES start in week 6, so check your lineups. I know the EAGLES are undefeated and the PHILS won their firs post-season series in many years, bit the Dream Teams current 4 game losing streak is really bumming me out. The rest of these notes are likely to reflect that mood. Perhaps you are better off waiting for the CBS Guru’s version. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Roxborough Wranglers will try to climb back up to the .500 mark at the expense of the Money Takers. In a family affair, the Good Fellas and Jelly Beans will meet possibly in a battle for the top spot in the standings. The defending champion Black & Blue Attack will try to finish that climb back .500 by beating the Fightin’ Irish. The Croatans will try to keep a share of first place by continuing the Dream Team losing streak. The Black Assassins and Body Shop will meet in a contest for that last money spot. Spock was 3 of 5 last week making him 9 of 15 (60%) for the season. He retains top billing. Norm was 0 of 5 last week making him 5 of 15 (33%) for the season. Norm’s lines (my estimates) appear below:
MT -2 RW (262) DT -9 C (273) There was only game decided on Sunday, the other 4 had a little Monday Night Madness (renaming Monday night madness to the Coach Casey Failure Syndrome). The Black Assassins held on to that last Money spot by edging out the Fightin’ Irish by 11.2 points. The Assassins were led by Ekeler, Jefferson and Tucker. The Irish were led by Henry and Metcalf (he is back) AS close as it was, there was little help on the Irish bench as they came pretty close to their best lineup. The Good Fellas carried 69.6-point lead into Monday night against the Money Takers and the CHIEFS. 70 points by a defense, I don’t think so. The Fellas are building up that half-game advantage (leading the league in scoring by over 130-points). They were led by Kupp and Lockett. The Takers were led by Diggs in the loss, as they only managed to top 80-points. Their bench had some better options but nine that would have turned the tide. |
The defending champion Black & Blue Attack went in into Monday night up by 76.5 points against the Dream Team, Carr, Adams and Waller. Carr and Adams hooked up on a 9 pointer in the first quarter and the CBS Guru knocked the Attack’s chance of winning down to 51%. Then Waller pulled a hammy and Adams was ore interested in drawing pass interference penalties than scoring TDs. Adams disappeared until the 4th quarter when he and Carr repeated the 9 point doucbel0bubble TD. Not enough but as the game ended with Adams running into Renfro, one had to wonder what might have happened on that play. The Attack was led by a monster performance by Gabe Davis and an Adrews like performance by Andrews. The Dream Team was led by Carr, Chubb, Cook and Adams in their 4th loss in a row, with no real help on the bench. The Jelly Beans and a 43.6-point lead barely held off the Roxborough Wranglers, Mahomes and C-E-H. The Beans won by 2.1 point lead upon further review (C-E-H scored an apparent TD, but was rude down at the 1 on review). Mahomes then decide to throw the ensuing TD to Kelce (somewhat of a theme for the night). The beans were led by Run CMC and Hollywood Brown as they kept pace with the other first place teams. The Wranglers were led by Mahomes. Fournette and Cooper in the loss that dropped them below .500. The Wranglers had several options on the bench that would have prevented that. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Croatans and the Body Shop. The Croatans, Kelce and Carlson overcame a 51-point lead on Monday night. Carlson and Kelce chipped away at the lead all night. Then Kelce’s 4th TD (yes 4 TDs) of the night nudged the Croatans over the finish line. The Croatans were led by Hurts, Williams, Kelce and Carlson as they kept pace with the other first place teams. The Shop must be the only fantasy team in the world to lose with Josh Allen at the helm, but his supporting cast came up small. Pollard over Singletary – I could see Coach Casey doing that. The Shop lost 2 straight Monday night madness battles. To quote Coach Casey, I lost this one on Draft Day taking Pitts before Kelce. That draft day mistake probably cost him more than one game.
