![]() Week 2 finds us with 2 teams that are undefeated and 2 that are winless. The rest of us are treading water at 1-1. The waiver wire is humming right along. No real COVID issues. Although, the Dream Team came up short (despite the winning % going into Monday), the EAGLES had a very nice night on offense and defense. In fact, the only concerns were a blocked FG, a screen passed that was tipped into a VIKING (former EAGLE) linebacker’s hands and a slew of ineligible receiver down field penalties. I will try to keep my spirit in the EAGLES game. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Black Assassins and Roxborough Wranglers meet in a contest between 1-1 teams. The Croatans are undefeated and at the top at the standings and will have to meet the high scoring Good Fellas. The Jelly Beans will meet the defending champion Black & Blue Attack in another game between 1-1- teams. The Dream Team will try to climb back over that money line at the expense of the winless Fightin’ Irish. The Body Shop will try to remain undefeated against the winless Money Takers. Spock won the contest last year so he gets top billing. Norm’s lines (my estimates) appear above. Spock’s locks appear below:
BA -1 RW (263) DT -9 FI (271) There was 1 game decided on Sunday, the other 4 had a little Monday Night Madness (2 Monday night games will do that). The Good Fellas, Smooth, Bass, the BILLS and a 97.2 point lead were just way too much from Black Assassins and Justin Jefferson. Justin Jefferson is good, but not that good. Plus, he had to deal with Big Play Slay. The Fellas, led by an MVP Performance by Action Jackson, Hill and Kupp scored their first helmet as they posted 3rd largest victory in the SportsLine era(and now have 3 of the 4 biggest blowouts – according to Coach Toast_. Apparently, Coach Toast is lobbying for some kind of sanctions for the Good Fellas pension for running up the score. The Assassin =s failed to field a 20 point scorer (which had just as much to do with the blow out). In fact, the Fellas outscored the Assassin roster by 80 points. The Croatans, Hurts and a 48.5 point lead were too much for the Money Takers and Diggs. Diggs out-dueled Hurts by a bot but not enough as they both posted 40+ points. The Croatans climbed to the top of the standings due to the efforts of Hurts, Kirk and Williams. Damn, missed my first shot a Start Trek joke. The Takers fell to 0-2 despite the fine performance by Diggs. The Takers best lineup would have left them winless as well. |
The Jelly Beans, A.J. Brown and a 44.7 point lead held off the Fightin’ Irish, Henry, Goedert and Elliot on Monday night. The Beans grabbed their first “W” due in large part to the efforts of Wentz (who seems to be enjoying his new digs). The Irish were led by Rodgers and Jones as they continue to look for that first “W”. The Irish had many options on the bench that would have changed the outcome, the easiest would have Bateman, Olave and the EAGLES. The Dream Team, Cook, Sanders and 16.4 point lead proved not to be enough against the Body Shop, Allen and McKenzie. I would say MCkenzie-who, but he outscored Dalvin Cook. The Shop was led by Allen (who is looking like the NFL and SWFFL MVP), Curtis Samuel and Amon-Ra St. Brown as they climbed to 2-0 and a tie for first place. The Dream Team was led by Stafford and Chubb as they dropped their first game. A Garrett Wilson would have had flipped the teams in the standings. Monday night lead change, relatively close game and Dream Team involved. Sounds like the GOW to me, but not so fast. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the Roxborough Wranglers. There was no Monday night madness but to 0.6 point lead had to bring up some night mares of the scoring change heard ‘round the world. Sorry Attack, but when you win by less than a point, I will bring it up every time (so maybe I am not so sorry). The Attack was led by Herbert and Andrews as they notch their first “W” in their title defense. The Wranglers were led by Mahommes and Waddle in their first loss if the year. When you lose by less than a point, most likely there were bullets on your bench that could have made a difference. There were a few for the Wranglers. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
