![]() Week 16 finds our latest champions being crowned. The Good Fellas have clinched their 3rd title. That being said, the other 3 money spots are still within range of 5 teams. The other 2 teams will be looking forward to that Week 18 consolation prize. The Dream Team lost and the EAGLES lost. I am thinking these notes are going to be more “Ba Humbug” then “Joy to the world”. You have been warned. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Fightin’ Irish will try to keep their money hopes alive by splitting the season series with eh Roxborough Wranglers. The Croatans will try to hold on to their money spot by sweeping the defending champions Black & Blue Attack. The Money Takers will asl try to keep their money spot by sweeping the Black Assassins. The Jelly Beans will try to keep their money spot by sweeping the Dream Team. The Good Fellas will try to keep the winning go on by sweeping the Body Shop. Spock was 3 of 5 last week making him 36 of 70 (51%) for the season. He regains top billing. Norm (my estimates) was 1 of 5 last week making him 23 of 65 (70%) for the season. Norm’s Lines (my estimates) appear below:
RW -2 FI (252) DT -9 JB (269) Two games were decided on Sunday, three had some Monday Night Madness (well thy had players going on Monday). In the closest contest on the Week 16 slate, the Money Takers eked out a 5-point win against the Jelly Beans. The Takers were led by Burrow, Higgins and Joseph (picked up for this week and boy was that a well-timed pickup). The Beans were led by Tua and Lamb in the loss. The Fellas “W” wrapped up first so now the Beans are playing for 2nd and they have the inside track. Their best lineup could have improved that position but that would have meant benching Run CMC and Jacobs. Yeah -- I don’t think so. The Roxborough Wranglers, Everett and a 57.3-point lead were too much for Keenan Allen. Everett phoned it in, but Allen could not get anywhere near the mark required. The Wranglers were led by Mahomes and Waddle in the sweep of the Dream Team. The Dream team was led by Allen in their 3rd loss in a row. The Dream Team’s best lineup would have failed to reach triple digits. Some years just go this way. Could not even win with a TE & WR putting up a 0. |
In a battle of former partners, the Black Assassins, Ekeler, the CHARGERS and a 37.7-point lead easily held off the Croatans and Mike Williams on Monday night. The Assassins were led by Jefferson, Moore and Kittle(nice 2nd half) as they completed the season sweep of the Croatans. The Croatans were led by the Mustache in the loss and they had some better options on the bench, but none that would have given the vengeance sought against the Assassins. The defending champion Black & Blue Attack completed the season sweep of the Body Shop as Hebert, Dicker and a 5.1-point lead were way too much for the Shop and Pittman on Monday night. The Attack was led by Akers (where did that come from) as they kept their money hopes alive. The Shop was led Ny Allen in the loss. The Shop left plenty of ammo on the bench. More than enough to help them avoid the dreaded standings z (at least for this week). The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Good Fellas and the Fightin’ Irish. I do not know if I make the championship clinching game the GOW every year, but I think I will be going forward. The Fellas not only won the game and the Championship. They left no doubt as they turned only the second 200_ point effort of the year. Thye could have backed in to the championship, but Dak, Saquon, Conner, DeVota, Hockenson and Maher would have none of that. Only 3 starters scored less than 20. The Irish put up a valiant battle largely due to the efforts of Cousins, Henry and Gano, but they had little chance. Even their bets lineup would have come up very short. They still have a decent shot at a money spot, so there is that. Congratulations to the Good Fellas. They held first place since week 3 and lead the league in points and wins.
