![]() Well here we go again. Our 34th season is under way. It was nice seeing everyone at the draft. I want to thank my partner Norm (and his wife Sue) for hosting us again this year. The waiver wire seems sufficiently on fire. The EAGLES won and the Dream Team won, so the tenor if these notes are bound to be nice. Again, some quick reminders, the IR slots(2) are restricted to use for COVID players. If you are worries about a late game cancellation, post emergency starters for those players in the bulletin board. If the game is canceled, then your emergency starter will replace the starters you in that game. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The current first place team, the Roxborough Wranglers, will take in the defending champion Black & Blue Attack who are still looking for their first “W” in defending their championship. The Black Assassins will try to keep their perfect record intact against the GoodFellas. The Croatans will try to keep their Week 1 roll going against the Money Takers. The Fightin’ Irish and Jelly Beans will meet as both teams are ins search of that first “W”. The Dream Team and Body Shop will meet in the only contest of undefeated teams on the week 2 slate. Spock beat Norm (my estimates) in the battle of the odds makers last year. They will renew their annual battle of wits next week. Spock’s lines appear above, but they will not count in the 2022 Odds Maker battle. Once again, I did that analysis based on last year's points. It is 54 out 108 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player, then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the old website for details on what players made up your “Best Lineup”, and I’ve also included the CBS gurus analysis as well on 50megs.
There was 1 game decided on Sunday, the other 4 had a little Monday Night Madness (well at least one did). |
The Croatans, led by Hutz, Swift and Kelce, nailed down that first victory against the Jelly Beans. The Beans were led by AJ Brown. The Beans had some help on the bench but their best lineup would have still lost. In the first of 2 Black Bowls this year (and a battle of the last 3 champions), The Black Assassins and a 55.9 pt. lead held off the Black & Blue Attack, Sutton, Albert O. and McManus on Monday night. The Assassins were led Burrow and Jefferson in the victory. The Attack was led by Hebert in the loss. The Attack had some help on the bench but not enough to make a difference. The Dream Team and a 93.5 point lead proved to be too much for the Money Takers, Wilson and Williams on Monday night. The Dream team was led by Thomas and the STEELERS as they move to 1-0. The Takers were led by Wilson and Diggs in the loss. The Takers best lineup also would have lost. The Body Shop and a 52.1-point lead easily held off the Fightin’ Irish and Metcalf on Monday night. The Shop was led by Allen. Pittman and St. Brown in their week 1 “W”. The Irish failed field a 20-point starter and there as not a whole lot oh help in their bench. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Roxborough Wranglers and the Good Fellas. The Wranglers and Jeudy overcame a 13.4 point lead in Jeudy’s first catch of the year (a 67 yard TD), although to be fair they did have to wait through a whole quarter of no targets.. The Wranglers were led by Mahomes, Taylor, Jeudy and Waddle in the victory in this shootout. The Fellas were led by Jackson, Barkley and Kupp in the loss (really neither team deserved to lose). A Duvernay start would have turned the tide for the Fellas. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
