![]() Week 8 finds one loan undefeated team. The Black & Blue have almost run the gauntlet of every team and still are unscathed. The EAGLES won and so did the Dream Team. So now I have no excuse to complain. This might be too much pressure after a couple of weeks of losses. Oh well, I will give it the old college try. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-Ups to watch this Week The Money Takers will try to beat the Croatans to keep up with (or maybe close in) on the Black & Blue. The Defending champion Black Assassins will try to use the Fightin’ Irish as the first steppingstone back to .500. In our own little version David vs. Goliath, the Back & Blue Attack will take on the Jelly Beans this week. In a family affair the Good Fellas will try to keep their Money spot at the expense of the Dream Team. The Roxborough Wranglers will try to keep pace with the Black and Blue by taking out the body Shop this week. Spock was 5 of 5 this week making him 20 of 30 (67%) on the year. He regains top billing. Norm was 1 of 5 making him 8 of 30 (27%) on the year. When Spock is beating Norm this badly, it is usually a bad year for the Dream Team. His lines (my estimates) appear below: C -1 MT (265) DT -9 GF (285)FI -2 BA (260) BS -2 RW (266) JB -1 BB (269) There were 3 games decided on Sunday. The other 2 had some Monday night madness (sort of). Actually, the closest games were over on Sunday. The Black & Blue Attack kept on rolling on as they climbed to 8-0. They were led by Godwin, as they only scored 114.2 points this week. They were definitely vulnerable this week. However, they faced the normally high-scoring Good Fellas, who forgot how to score this week. The had no 20-point scorers and Hurts was the only starter to barely reach double digits. I am not sure but I do not think I have seen a 63 since we switched to yardage scoring. I checked and since we joined CBS the Good Fellas also have the lowest score (39 in 2006) and the Croatans put up a 61.8 last year, so apparently, I do not remember so well. The Fellas had some slightly better options, bit even their best lineup would have left the Black & Blue undefeated. The Dream Team’s 19.5 point lead was enough to hold off the Fightin’ Irish and Kelce on Monday night. That is usually a bit much for a TE, but Kelce is not your normal TE. However, the CHIEFS do not seem to be the CHIEFS this year. The Dream Team was led by Mixon as the climbed back to .500 and just outside the Money Line. The Irsih was led by Herbet, Ekeler and Bobby Trees. A Cooks and Mooney start would have had the Commish crying in his Tuesday morning coffee. |
The Money takers and a 50.4 pt. lead held off the defending champions Black Assassins, the cheetah and Butker. Hill had a nice game (only Assassin over 20), butker was about average and the Takers finished du with a comfortable 15-point victory as they also grabbed their first helmet of the year. The Takers were led by Allen and Samuel as they held on to 2nd place still 2 games behind the Black & Blue. The Body Shop squeaked out a 4.8 point. Victory against the Jelly Beans. The Shop was led by Stafford, Harris and Brown as they inched closer to that .500 line. The Beans were led by Wentz, Cooper, Metcalf and Gonzales. A Conner or Tonyan start over Raymond would have had the Beans out of the Basement. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Roxborough Wranglers and the Croatans. Normally, I lean towards Monday night madness for GOW honors. But the was tied for the closest game and it involved a Money team and was the higher scoring game of the 2 4.8-point games. The Wranglers were led by an MVP performance by Brady and Kupp (Wow!! Have these 2 over-performed their draft spots). I am sure Brady will be happy he won the SWFFL weekly MVP. He may have to make room on the mantle by dumping one of those Super Bowl trophies. The Croatans were led by Tannehill, Henderson and Pittman in the loss. In a rarity in such a close game, there was only one Croatan on the bench who outperformed a starter. Bullock beat out Greg the Leg by 6 point which would have been enough to get the Croatans back over that Money line. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
