Standings Key: y - Clinched Money Spot, z - Eliminated From Money

Week 17 finds our first eliminations and going into Monday it looked like every team would be withing a game of a Money spot. They played the game on Monday night and things changed. The EAGLES won and clinched a playoff spot. I doubt that overrides the Dream Team finally dropping out of the Money after their 4th straight loss. So, do not expect much from these particular notes.

The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Money Takers will try to complete the season sweep and will be big Jelly Bean fans this week. The Fightin’ Iriss will try to complete the season sweep of the defending Champion Black Assassins and (I guess because of points, hope the Dream team and Good Fellas tie). The Black & Blue Attack will try to avoid being swept by the Jelly Beans (who gave them their first loss in Week 9) and finally wrap up that record 6th Championship. The Good Fellas will try to sweep the Dream Team and hope the Body Shop trips up at the finish line. The Body Shop will try to complete the season sweep of the Roxborough Wranglers and hold on to that final Money spot.

Spock was 4 of 5 making him 45 of 75 (60%). He retains top billing. Norm was 2 of 5 this week making him 31 of 75 (41%) on the year. His lines (my estimates) appear below:

MT -1  C (261)     DT -9 GF (277)
FI -2 BA (264)     RW -2 BS (258)
BB -1 JB (263)

Two games were decided on Sunday. The other 3 had some level of Monday Night Madness (really just 2).

The Roxborough Wranglers completed the season sweep of the Croatans as the Wranglers keep winning despite the fact that they are pretty much locked in at third place. When questioned about the policy, the Wranglers Coach Wallon said “We play to win the game” or something to that effect. The Wranglers were led by Brady, Renfrow, St. Brown and Fantasy MVP Kupp. The Croatans failed to field a 20-point starter and also failed to clear triple digits. They had some help on the bench but nothing that would have made a difference. Still starting Cook when he was on IR left a lot to be desired.

The Money Takers completed the season sweep of the defending champion Black Assassins and kept just out of reach of first place (although they did drop their total points advantage). The Takers were led by Allen ad Samuel in their 4th win in a row. The Assassin were led by Murray in the loss and the bullets they left on the bench would not have made the difference. The Assassins need a win, a Shop loss and a huge week 18-point total.

The Black & Blue Attack and a 121.4-point lead was way too much for the Good Fellas, Chubb and the BROWNS on Monday night. The Attack was led by Mahomes, Williams and an MVP performance by Chase as they scored their 5th helmet. The Fellas failed to field a 20-point starter or clear triple digits. The bench would not have helped as Attack outscore their entire roster.

The Fightin’ Irish, Boswell and a 34.3-point lead held off the Dream Team, Johnson and the STEELERS. The Irish were led by Hebert and Stevenson in their 3rd win in a row. They had to be sweating as half-time approached, the Dream Team actually took the lead (STEELERS still had a shutout). At that point Boswell started kicking FGs and the BROWNS got in the endzone and ended any Dream Team Monday night miracle. The Dream Team was led by Rodgers in their 4th loss in a row and have dropped out of the Money. We kept our shirts on as we left the field, well, most of us did.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the Jelly Beans. The Shop and Harris faced a 32.1-point deficit against the Beans on Monday night. Harris was having a very good game, but it looked like he would come up well short. With 1 minute left in the game Harris breaks off a 37-yard run for a TD. The TD gave the Shop the win and vaulted them into the money. The Shop became the cardiac kids of 2021 in more ways than one (OK – probably too soon). With the “Webster Slaughter” like win, the Shop not only replaced the Dream Team in the money, they also booted us out of GOW honors. The Shop was led by Prescott (finally picked right) and Harris in the last-minute win. The Beans were led by Wilson, Jones and Metcalf in the loss that left them alone in the basement. Despite the 5-point loss, the Beans had no help on the bench.
