![]() Week 12 finds the standings have tightened up a bit. The race for the championship still seems to be a 2-horse race. On a brighter side every team is within 2 games of a money spot. The waiver wire is still clicking along at a decent pace. Speaking of transactions, the trading deadline is still set to week 14. Perhaps with the extra week, we should bump that up to week 15. I will try to remember that for next years meeting. The Dream Team won, but the EAGLES lost a game against a very beatable GIANTS team. Still, I am feeling a little down, so you may want to stop reading now. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Body Shop will try to avenge their early season loss to the Croatans and keep the money lone in sight. The defending champion Black Assassin will try to get closer to the .500 line by completing the seas sweep of the Jelly Beans. The Good Fellas will try to sweep the Fightin’ Irish and hold tight to that money spot. The Black & Blue Attack will try to bounce back from this week’s loss by completing the season sweep of the Roxborough Wranglers. The Money Takers will try to sweep the Dream Team and hope for another Black & Blue stumble. Norm (my estimates) was 4 of 5 this week making him 21 of 50 (42%) on the year. He retains top billing. Spock was 3 of 5 making him 30 of 50 (60%). His locks appear below: BS -6 C (248) BB -26 RW (250)BA -3 JB (259) MT -6 DT (272) GF -9 FI (261) Two games were decided on Sunday. The other 3 had some level of Monday Night Madness (some more than others). The Body Shop completed the season sweep of the defending Champion Black Assassins. The Shop was led by Dak, Jefferson and Patterson as they climbed back to the .500 line. The Assassins were led by Diggs and Theielen (reunited under the Assassin regime). Despite the closeness of the game (less than 10 points), there was no real help on the Assassin bench. The Money Takers avenged their early season loss to the Black & Blue Attack and pulled to within a game of first place. Normally, a game between the 2 teams in the championship hunt would warrant GOW honors, but I find myself in denial (still too many games left). The Takers were led by Allen and Deebo in the victory. The Black & Blue Attack failed to field a 20 point starter and barely cleared triple digits. Is there a chink in the armor? The Attack did have some help on the bench, but not enough for them to expand their lead on the rest of the league. |
The Dream Team and a 107.5-point lead were too much for the Jelly Beans, Wilson and Metcalf on Monday night. The Dream Team also captured their second helmet in 2 weeks (and for the season), primarily due to the efforts of Rodgers, Mixon and an MVP performance by Fournette (have to admit – was anti-Fournette the last couple of years). The Beans were led by Wilson in the loss that snapped their 3 game winning streak The Fightin’ Irish avenged their week 3 loss to the Roxborough Wranglers as Gibson and a 29.6-point lead easily held off the Wranglers and Scary Terry on Monday night. The Irish were led by Hebert, Gibson and Waddle as they won their 3rd in 4 weeks and have climbed out of the cellar (for the most part). The Wranglers failed to field a 20-point starter. There was some hep on the bench but not enough that would have kept the Wranglers in the money. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Good Fellas and Croatans. Ok it is a game where neither team cleared triple digits and only involved one money team. It was the closest game of the week and it also had some Monday night action from both teams, and that was enough this week. In this low scoring affair, neither team fielded a 20-point starter. There wasn’t a whole lot of points on either bench. I imagine this game went back and forth and if Lockett takes one of those bombs he caught to the house we would have had another team ousted from the Money (to be honest – I was not really following it). Still, not a single player on either roster cleared 20 points and neither team cleared triple digits. Maybe we should have recount on the GOW ballots. Oh, I forgot there was no voting involved here. Maybe we should have an election or poll for GOW. Well, what’s done is done. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
