WEEK 9:
The M. TAKERS defeated the CROATANS(126.4 - 88.6)
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Money Takers cut the Black & Blue lead in half by defeating the Croatans. The Takers were led mostly by an MVP performance on Thursday by Taylor. The Croatans failed to clear triple digits and no starter cleared the 20-point threshold. The Croatans seemed to eb a little leery of putting Kittle back in the lineup after the injury, but I suspect that is resolved now. No matter, Kittle and the other 2 players on the bench that outscored the starters would not have changed the outcome. Pre-Game Hype:

WEEK 9:
The FIGHTIN' IRISH defeated the B ASSASSINS(140.4 - 84.8)
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Fightin’ Irish had already notched the “W” against the defending champion Black Assassins and they still had Boswell on Monday night. The Irish were led by Herbert and Boswell as they battle to escape the basement. The Assassins failed to clear triple digits and also failed to field a 20-point starter. To make matters worse, there were no 20-point scorers on their bench either and no starting lineup would have made a difference. Pre-Game Hype:

WEEK 9:
The JELLY BEANS defeated the BLACK & BLUE(81.2 - 79.9)
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
And finally, they fall. The last place Jelly Beans took out the undefeated Black & Blue Attack. I suppose this game should have been considered for “GOW” honors just for the sheer effect on the standings (plus it was a very close game). David defeated Goliath. On paper it was no contest, but that is why we play the game (OK it is Fantasy Football, and we really don’t play the game). The SWFFL Miracle on Ice. I guess that is enough of the underdog references. The Beans were led by Wentz and endured despite the benching of a 40 burger by Connor. The Attack was led by Hollywood Brown in their first loss. In such a close game (1.3 points) there were several options on the Attack bench that would have kept them undefeated. Pre-Game Hype:

WEEK 9:
The GOOD FELLAS defeated the DREAM TEAM(170.7 - 153.8)
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Good Fellas and a 35.6-point lead proved to be too much for the Dream Team, the STEELERS and Johnson on Monday night. The Fellas were led by Jackson, Chubb, Jefferson and Smith as they held on to that last Money Spot. The Dream Team was led By Cousins, Mixon and Allen in the loss. Rant Time: I am not sure which is worse losing by a fraction of a point or scoring the send highest score of the week and losing to the Helmet team. Also, although no one player would have made a difference, a Bengal player making a tackle on Chubb’s 70 yard TD run would have changed the outcome. Oh well, I suppose I have been on the other end of those plays in the past. Pre-Game Hype:

WEEK 9:
The BODY SHOP defeated the ROXB WRANGLERS(104.5 - 104.4)
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the Roxborough Wranglers. The Wranglers, Claypool and a 8.9-point lead were not enough to hold off the Shop and Harris on Monday night. In the end the game wound up being the closest non-tie game in SWFFL history (much like every 109-yard TD is the longest in NFL history). The Shop score a 0.1 point win due in large part by the performances of Prescott and Patterson (2 Comeback Player of the Year Candidates). The Wranglers were led by Kupp (another 2021 surprise) in the loss. Despite the closeness, the Wranglers bench was pretty much full of goose eggs. BTW, a Dak benching would have cost the Shop another loss. Pre-Game Hype:
