![]() Week 8 finds those teams at the bottom of the standings hoping for the NFL season to be cancelled (like losing 25-0 in the top of the 5th inning). The completion of next week’s game will make the season official. So there is not much more time to pray for rain. The transaction wire is burning up, I have had to use the carry-over area for a 2nd straight week. BTW, a friendly reminder, the IR slot in CBS is for players on the NFL COVID-19 IR or players involved in a game that was postponed by COVID-19 infections. The standings are starting to spread, but even at that 7 teams are within 2 games of a money spot or 3 games of the top spot. The lights are bright in the Commissioner’s office as the EAGLES and the Dream Team are both on winning streaks. It has been suggested that we get a cell phone list to help with trading. Let me know if you want in. I will update the phone listing.
The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Fightin’ Irish and the Croatans meet in their only match this year in what essentially is a battle for the basement. The Body Shop will try to keep the money line in view by beating the Roxborough Wranglers. The Black & Blue Attack will try to keep that top spot by defeating the Black Assassins in the only Black Bowl of 2020. The Jelly Beans will try to stay in the mix by winning against the Money Takers. In a family affair, the Dream Team will meet the Good Fellas in their only 2020 match. Spock was 5 for 5 last week making him 16 of 30 (44%) on the year. He regains top billing. Norm (my estimates) was 3 of 5 last week making him 17 of 30 (57%) on the year. His locks appear below: FI -1 C (249) MT -2 RW (260)RW -2 BS (256) DT -8 GF (276) BA -1 BB (263) There were 4 games that were decided on Sunday. The other 1 had some Monday Night Madness (sort of). The Dream Team wrapped up the game on Sunday against the Croatans due in large part to Stafford, Kamara, Allen, Julio, Woods and Greg the Leg (who like Stafford was a bye week plug in). The still had Gronk and the BUCS on Monday night (at this point they were vying for the helmet and did warp it up on Monday). The Croatans were led by Tannehill who continues to be a soldi play at QB. The Croatans hardly had a bench between the BYE and the injuries. The Black & Blue held on to the top spot by defeating the Good Fellas in the lowest scoring contest of the week. Neither team fielded a 20-point starter. The Fellas had some points on the bench, but not enough to change the outcome. |
The Black Assassins defeated the Money Takers largely due to the performances of Wilson, Bernard, Adams and Kelce. The Takers were eld by Brees and Kupp in the loss. The Takers had points on the bench, but their best lineup was not enough. The Jelly Beans were led by Ryan, the Cheetah, Robinson and an MVP performance by Cook as they defeated the Roxborough Wranglers. The Wranglers were led by Samuel and the EAGLES on the loss. The Wranglers best lineup would not have ousted the Beans from a money spot. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the Fightin’ Irish. It was the only game where the trailing team had Monday night Players. It also was the closest game despite the 26 point win by the Body Shop. There were a lot of blow-outs this week. The Shop carried a 70.4 point lead into Monday night against the Irish, Brady, RoJo and Evans. I am telling you this really was the only choice for Game of the Week. Brady added what he could to the standout performance by Metcalf. But to be honest, this game was never really in doubt. The Shop was led by Mahomes and Aiyuk (nice pickup) in the win that gets the Shop back to .500 and a touch closer to that Money Line. The Irish had some help on the bench (Brady, Adams and Rodgers – might be time to try and trade one of them) but even their best lineup would have been a couple of points short.
