Daniel “Bubba” Jones (5/23/63–12/9/20) Well, another season has come to an end. I do not think we will be having a party this year. Hopefully this will be the last SWFFL event cancelled by COVID-19. Since we need to cover the Money Takers $375 in losses, I am going to throw the $200 party fee towards that. That leaves $175 to be split by all 9 teams. I added $20 to all costs for the remaining teams. So that comes to $380. It is $5 too much, but I will throw that into next year’s draft food order. I did not want to deal with adding $19 and dealing with odd dollars. If anybody wants a dollar back, see me at next year’s draft. If you owe money try to get it to me by the week after the Superbowl (what used to be Pro Bowl week). I will the try to get the winners their money after that. I don’t know – maybe I ought to look into this Venmo deal. Congratulations to The Black Assassins on their 2nd Championship in a row and 3rd and or 4th overall (depending on whether you count the Revenge Title). The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. OK, this is the part where I look back at the draft analysis I do at the beginning of most years. This year it picked 1 of the 4 Money teams making 47 of 96 overall. 49% - almost the same a coin toss. As an alternatively, the CBS Guru selected 2 of the 4 Money teams, which makes them 9 of 20 (45%) in the last 5 years. I still think the Guru's system is better than mine, which is probable since CBS uses projections instead of last year’s numbers. Norm (my estimates) was 4 of 5 last week making him 40 of 75 (53%) on the year. Spock was 2 of 5 last week making him 38 of 75 (51%) on the year. Congratulations Norm, and as expected, Norm wins the battle of the Oddsmakers and the Dream Team makes the money. Coincidence, I think not. Since we have some extra room in the last week, I will be doling out my season-ending awards for the year. The 2020 Fantasy MVP award goes to Davante Adams, who was still the top WR despite missing 2 games. The PACKERS get 2020 Fantasy NFL Team of the Year award by grabbing a top 4 spot in 3 of the position rankings (QB, RB and WR). Aaron Rodgers gets the 2020 Comeback Player of the Year after a couple of off years. There were many candidates for 2020 Bust of the Year, (most because of injury Run CMC or Barkley), but give it to Zeke Elliot, who happened to play most games(15) but failed to produce. The 2020 Worst Fantasy NFL Team goes to the JETS (won 2 of the last 3 to blow the first pick). The 2020 SWFFL Rookie of the Year goes to Justin Jefferson with Herbert and Taylor in a close second. Hurts did not make honorable mention. |
The Good Fellas avenged their early season loss to the Black & Blue Attack and replaced them in the money team list. The Good Fellas were led by Jacobs, Sheppard and Waller as they climbed above the Money line. The Attack was led by Herbert in the loss that took them form a tie for first to out of the Money. The Attack’s best lineup would have scored them second place overall. A Sudfeld sack in the endzone or a pick-6 would have kept the Attack in the Money. More about that later. The Black Assassins completed the season sweep of the Money Takers as they notched their 2nd Championship overall. There were 3 teams that could have won the Championship. The Assassin were the only team that won in Week 17. The Assassins were led by Wilson Mattison, Jones and Lockett to the promise land. The Takers were led by Cousins, Wilson and Jefferson in the loss. Was hoping for a better finish for the Takers. The Roxborough Wranglers avenged their early season loss to the Jelly Beans and notched the golden helmet to cap off second half run that was pretty amazing. The Wranglers were led by Henry, Taylor, Montgomery and Godwin. The Beans were led by Chubb, Gordon, Cooks and the BILLS in the loss. A Dobbins, Ryan and Meyers start would have given the Beans the “W”, but still would have landed them in second place. The Fightin’ Irish avenged their early season loss to the Body Shop. The Irish were led by Rodgers and Gage. The Shop was led by Brown in the loss. The Shop’s best lineup would have completed the sweep but they still would have finished on the outside looking in. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and The Croatans. It was the closest game and if I have to spend all of Sunday night sweating bullets, the Dream Team will be in the game of the week. The Dream Team had a very large (over 70 point) lead at about 6:00 PM. A late Tannehill TD run and an inexplicable Jeudy 92 yard TD cut the lead down to about 40 going into Sunday night. Th Dream team had Cam Sims. The Croatans had Scott, McLaurin, Thomas and the Washington ST. IN the first half, McLaurin and Thomas scored. This left the Dream team to sweat out the whole second half. The lead was down to & as the EAGLES got the ball down inside the 10 for the last minute. Fortunately, Sudfeld did not let the Croatans get those last 6 points. The Dream Team was led by Watson, Brown and Greg the Leg as they held on and grabbed 3rd place. The Croatans were led by Tannehill and Jeudy in the loss. A Brown or SAINTS start would have had the Dream Team out of the money and the Black & Blue in the Money. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
