Daniel “Bubba” Jones (5/23/63–12/9/20) Week 16 finds 3 teams still alive for the Championship. The Assassins and the Beans (with their large point totals) have basically clinched a Money Spot and they cannot finish lower than 3rd place. The Black & Blue Attack, with their more pedestrian point total, could finish anywhere from first place to out of the money. The crowd at 9-7 are playing for that last money spot (and maybe 3rd if the Black & Blue slips up in Week 17). The Wranglers, who were hanging in the basement in week 9, are still alive for a money spot. They need a win and a lot of help, but they are still alive. Everybody has a shot at the Week 17 consolation prize, so bring your “A” game. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Dream Team will try to keep one that Money spot by sweeping the Croatans. The Black & Blue Attack will try to keep their championship hopes alive by sweeping the Good Fellas. The defending champion Black Assassins will try to keep their repeat hopes alive by sweeping the Money Takers. The Jelly Beans will try to keep their Championship hopes alive by sweeping the Roxborough Wranglers. The Body Shop will try to keep their money spot hopes alive by sweeping the Fightin’ Irish. Norm (my estimates) was 4 of 5 last week making him 36 of 70 (51%) on the year. He retains top billing. Spock was 2 of 5 last week making him 36 of 70 (51%) on the year. His locks appear below: DT -26 C (254) JB -12 RW (272)BB -3 GF (267) BS -9 FI (259) BA -15 MT (257) Two games were already decided on Sunday night. The other 3 truly had some Monday night madness (some more than others). The Dream Team notched their 4th helmet and swept the Body Shop as they climbed back above the Money line. The Dream Team got very nice performances from Watson and Gronk, however Kamara ran through the Shop defense like it wasn’t even there. Kamara wound up with a 6 rushing TD performance and an MVP total of 62.7 points. The Shop was led by Mahomes and Diontae in the loss that means they need some hep to get into the money. Even their best lineup would have been short. |
The Money Takers barely held off the Good Fellas. The Takers avenged their early season loss to the Fellas due largely to the efforts of Wilson and Thielen. The “W” marks the first since Bubba’s passing and really ends what was a few weeks of just really bad luck. The Fellas were led by Agholor (wow never thought I‘d be highlighting him) as they dropped out of the Money and out of the championship contention. A Gallup or Shepard start would have had the Fellas still in the Money and still in the run for the 2020 title. The Fightin’ Irish avenged their early season loss to the Black & Blue Attack as a 71.1 point lead on Monday night proved to be bit too much for Diggs. The Irish were led by Jackson, Evans and Lamb as they clinched not finishing in the basement. The Attack were led by Diggs in the loss that took kept them from having the inside track to the 2020 title. The Attack is still in running, but their best lineup would have had them a game ahead of the pack in the title race. The Roxborough Wranglers, Allen and a 34.3 point lead were too much for the Croatans and Beasley on Monday night. The Wranglers were led by Allen and the running David’s as they swept the Croatans and kept their slim Money hopes alive. The Croatans were led by Tannehill (he is for real) in the loss by the Croatans. The Croatans had very little hep on the bench. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the defending champion Black Assassins. The Assassin went into Sunday night down by 29.4 with Adams left against Bass and the Bills. I figured even if Adams could wipe out the 30 pt. lead on Sunday, the Beans Bills would easily retake the lead on Monday. Well Adams did a ery good job of wiping out that lead and the Beans Bills . . not so much. The Assassins, led by Hurts, Adams and Kelce eked out the “W”, swept the Beans and grabbed the inside track to a repeat title. The Beans were led by Trubisky, cooks and Robinson in the loss that dropped them into a 3-way tie for first pace going into Week 17. A Crowder start would have had the Beans in a much better position going into Week 17. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
