![]() Week 9 finds 9 of the 10 teams within a game of a Money spot and within 2 games of first place. Also only 0.2 points separate first and second place. That is pretty competitive. The transaction wire has slowed down for the last but maybe the competition will give us a surge in there as well. OK – EAGLES won and Dream Team won, so I should be upbeat. For some reason, I am just not feeling it this week, but I will try to get a chuckle or 2 out to you this week. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-Ups to watch this Week The Roxborough Wranglers will try to keep that top spot by repeating their week 1 victory over the Croatans (maybe with a little larger margin of victory). In a battle of Money Teams (and the 2 highest scoring teams), the Dream team will try to sweep the Black Assassins. The Body Shop will try to complete the season sweep against the Good Fellas as both teams are looking to climb above the Money line. The Fightin’ Irish will need to sweep the Jelly Beans if they want to land a Money spot next week. In a battle of ex-partners, the Black & Blue Attack will try to sweep the Money Takers as they want to quickly reverse there ejection from the Money. Norm (my estimates) were 4 of 5 last week making him 21 of 35 (60%) on the year. Norm retains top billing. Spock was 1 of 5 last week making him 15 of 35 (43%) on the year. Spock’s locks appear below: RW -8 C (236) FI -9 JB (243)BA -1 DT (269) BB -8 MT (244) GF -4 BS (258) Two games were final on Sunday. The other 3 had some Monday night madness (all 3 had some real Monday night madness – second week in a row). The Black Assassins put up a big number against the Body Shop this week. Stafford, Evans, Lockett, Ertz and Butker led the Assassins to the second helmet and the top of the scoring list. The Shop was led by Jackson and Sanders in the loss. The Shop almost played a perfect line up, but to be honest their whole roster was outscore by the Assassin starters. Look out Assassins that Helmet hangover thing still seems to be in play. The Good Fellas has already notched the “W” against the first place Money Takers and they still had Zeke to come on Monday. The Fellas were led by Wilson and Jacobs in the victory that knocked the Takers out of first place. Was it the Fellas that beat the Takers or the Helmet hangover (seems to be making a comeback)? The Takers failed to field a 20 point scorer this week. The Takers left some bullets on the bench, but not enough to make a difference. |
The Fightin’ Irish, Cooper and Maher easily overcame a 2.3 point lead over the Croatans on Monday night (1st quarter). The Irish were led by Cooper in the victory Galloday led the Croatans in the loss. The Croatans would have been 5-4 instead of the Irish if they started Williams and Jones (or Witten or the RAVENS). The Dream Team and Engram easily wiped out the Jelly Beans 4.3 point lead on Monday night (2nd quarter). The Dream Team was led by a near MVP performance by Run CMC and Metcalf. The Beans were led by Cousins and Gordon as they dropped their 8th game of the year. The Beans had a few options on the bench that would have made the difference. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Roxborough Wranglers and the Black & Blue Attack. The Attack held a 34.6 point lead against the Wranglers, Barkley, Tate and the COWBOYS on Monday night. The Wrangler chipped away at the lead, but it looked like they were going to come up just short. With about 30 seconds left Danny “Dimes” Jones, turned on the Attack (rostered and the ex-partner name and all that) and coughed up a fumble to COWPOKES and they took it to the house, giving the Wranglers the “W”, first place and knocking the Attack out of the Money. Even I could not pull Commissioners privilege for GOW on this one. The Wranglers were led by Winston in the “W”. The Attack was led by Carr and Hill in the loss. A White or Hyde start over Diggs would have led to the Attack being in first place instead of the Wranglers. OK – not as bad as the “stats” correction, but it has to be close.
