![]() Week 8 finds 5 teams at 500 and 8 teams are within 2 games of first and tied for 4th. There is another annoying early Sunday morning game from England, so make sure you get your players in before the game starts (or out if you do not want them started). The waiver wire has cooled a bit, but week 9 is a big BYE week, so I imagine things will heat up again. Also, whatever team you play in Week 9, you will only play once and Week 9 is it. In week 10, we repeat week 1’s schedule. EAGLES win!! Dream Team wins!! The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-Ups to watch this Week The Roxborough Wranglers will meet the Black & Blue Attack in the only contest this week between Money teams. The Croatans will meet the Fightin’ Irish in a contest between 4-4 teams. In a family affair, the Dream Team will try to maintain their hold on that last money spot at the expense of the Jelly Beans. The Black Assassins and Body Shop will meet in another contest of 4-4 teams. The Money Takers will try to keep their newly acquire top spot in the standings against the Good Fellas. Norm (my estimates) were 4 of 5 last week making him 17 of 30 (57%) on the year. Norm retains top billing. Spock was 2 of 5 last week making him 14 of 30 (47%) on the year. Spock’s locks appear below: BB -6 RW (242) BS -6 BA (260)C -8 FI (252) MT -3 GF (255) DT -21 JB (243) Two games were final on Sunday. The other 3 had some Monday night madness (all 3 had some real Monday night madness). In the only game this week that was decided by more than 10 points, the Black Assassins led by Stafford, Evans and Hopkins, defeated the Jelly Beans and joined the 4-4 logjam. The Jelly Beans were led by Julio in their 5th loss in a row. The Beans had some options on the bench, but none that would have stopped the bleeding. The Beans need to turn it around now (Ok wait until Week 10 – since they play the Dream Team in Week 9). The Croatans eked out a “W” against the Black & Blue Attack. The 3 point victory by the Croatans (led by Golladay) removed the Attack from their first place perch. The Arrack was led by the one-eyed wonder DeShaun Watson and Diggs in the loss. Given the small margin of victory, there Attack had several options (Daniel Jones – always going to use full name here, Sanders or Ridley) on the bench that would have kept the Attack in the top spot. |
The Fightin’ Irish, the STEELERS and a 27.4 point lead held off (barely) the Body Shop, Conner and Boswell on Monday night. Now, I imagine there were several lead changes going on in this game, but honestly I was paying more attention to another game. Also, the final score was less than 3 points. This is usually all that is required for a “GOW”, but not this week. The Irish were led by Brady, Thomas and Fells in the victory that pulled them up to 4-4. The Shop was led by Allen and Conner in the loss that pulled them down to 4-4 and out of the Money. A hobbled Keenan Allen start over Waller would have kept the Shop in a tie for 2nd.. The Money Takers and a 12 point lead were too much for the Roxborough Wranglers and Vance McDonald on Monday night. So here we have the loosing team with a Monday night player, margin of victory under 10 points, both teams scoring 150+ points and a contest between teams tied for first. This is basically the definition of a perfect GOW . . . but not this week. The Takers were led by an MVP performance by Jones and almost MVP performance by Kupp as they climbed back into the penthouse and nabbed their first helmet. The Wranglers were led by Winston, Barkley, Cook and Murray in the loss. Despite the closeness, the Wranglers best score still would have had them looking up at the Takers in the top spot. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Good Fellas. OK this one was decided by less than one point any time I have to sweat out a whole 4th quarter hoping a certain player does not get one catch or even a sweep for a few yards and I check the score at 6AM on a day off, just to make sure some mysterious scoring correction do not come in to take the “W” away, I am taking GOW – call it Commissioner privilege. The Dream Team was led by Goff and Run CMC I the victory that got them back over the Money line. The Fellas were led by Julian and JuJu in the loss. A Mack or Williams start has the Fellas I the 4-4 logjam instead of the Dream Team. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
