![]() Week 6 finds a definitive gap developing between the haves and the have-nots. Three games now separate the teams at the top and the bottom 4 teams. There is still plenty of time to reverse that trend and make this a truly competitive season. The BYE weeks seem to observing their only purpose (keeping the transactions going strong). The EAGLES were destroyed, and the Dream Team scored the lowest total score I can remember since we added yardage points. So don’t expect a very upbeat version of the notes this week. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Roxborough Wranglers will try to keep their tie for the top slot this week against the Fightin’ Irish who are trying to get back to .500. The Money Takers will try to maintain their lofty perch against the Croatans who are also trying to get back to .500. The Good Fellas will try to climb above the Money line against the Black Assassins who are also trying to get to .500. The Body Shop will also try to climb above the Money line against the Jelly Beans who are trying to climb out of the basement. In the only contest between Money teams, the Black & Blue Attack will take on a reeling Dream Team who will be missing Run CMC this week. Spock was 4 of 5 last week making him 10 of 20 (50%) on the year. Spock gains top billing. Norm (my estimates) were 1 of 5 last week making him 9 of 20 (45%) on the year. Norm’s line (my estimates) appear below: FI -1 RW (256) BS -2 JB (248)C -1 MT (253) DT -9 BB (269) BA -1 GF (249) Three games were final on Sunday. The other 2 had some Monday night madness (ok not much madness this week). The Roxborough Wranglers won their 3rd game in a row and kept a share of first place by beating the Jelly Beans. The Wranglers were led by Matty Ice, David Johnson and Golden Tate. The Jelly Beans failed to field a 20 point starter as they dropped to 1-4. A Kirk Cousins start would have knocked the Wranglers out of the first place tie and the Jelly Beans would have a lot more company in the basement. The Good Fellas notched their first helmet of the year as they defeated the Fightin’ Irish. The Fellas were led by Wilson, Zeke, Edelman and the PATRIOTS. The Irish were led by Brady and Chubb in the loss. The Irish left some points on the bench but not enough to make a difference in the outcome of the game. |
The Money Takers won their 5th in a row and kept a hold on the top spot in the standings by defeating the Dream team. The Takers were led by Murray in the win. With a final total of 93.1, the Takers would not have beaten any other team this week. Perhaps that is how it goes for teams of destiny. The Dream Team busted up the “Hemet Hangover” last week. Well I can tell you tales of its demise were greatly exaggerated as the Dream Team failed to break 70 points. Even Run CMC failed to break the 20 point barrier. A Rivers and Metcalf start would have knocked the Takers out of their penthouse digs. The Body Shop and a 67.9 point lead proved to be too much for the Croatans, Golladay and Praeter on Monday night. The Shop was led by Mahomes, Carson, Conner and Hooper in the victory. The Croatans were led by Wentz and Prater in the loss. The Croatans left a boat load of Hunter Henry points on the bench, but even they would not have changed the outcome of the game. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the Black Assassins. In the first of the revived “Black” bowls, the Attack carried a 36.6 point lead into Monday night against the Assassins and Mitchell. Ok – there really were slim pickings when it came to “GOW” honors. A Rodgers start would have made things at least a little more interesting, but alas even the GOW was more or less a blowout. The Attack was led by Watson, Godwin and Hill in the victory. The Assassins were led by Evans and Scary Terry (no don’t like that nickname). CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
