![]() Well another year has come to an end. Thankfully it was a fairly competitive year with the championship coming down to the last week and one team even jumped up and snagged the final money spot (from the Dream Team). More interestingly the battle for the Golden helmet was intense, looking like it was going one way (or so I am told, to be honest I was having nightmares about losing my money spot by the time Sunday night’s game was over) with 3 teams scoring over 170 and within a 5 point spread. Then overnight with nary a snap of a football or TD scored, the Assassins jumped to the top (after a stats correction). It may not be the “stat correction” heard round the world that cost the Black & Blue a title a few years back, but it was up there. Do not have plans for settle-up party yet, will e-mail and post on board when we have a final plan. Congratulations to the Black Assassins on their second title (Toast’s third) and the other Money teams. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. OK, this is the part where I look back at the draft analysis I do at the beginning of most years. This year it picked 2 of the 4 Money teams making 46 of 92 overall. 50% - same as a coin toss. As an alternatively, the CBS Guru selected 2 of the 4 Money teams, which makes them 7 of 16 (43.8%) in the last 3 years. I still think the Guru's system is better than mine, which is probable since CBS uses projections instead of just the previous year’s numbers, like I do. Spock was 4 of 5 last week making him 40 of 75 (53%) on the year. Norm (my estimates) were 0 of 5 last week making him 36 of 70 (48%) on the year. Spock wins the battle of the oddsmakers which is generally bad news for the Dream Team. Since we have some extra room in the last week, I will be doling out my season-ending awards for the year. The 2018 Fantasy MVP award goes to Lamar Jacson (Run CMC – a close second if not Co-MVP beat all RB by 100 and all but 1 QB). The BUCCANEERS get 2018 Fantasy NFL Team of the Year award by grabbing a top 4 spot in 3 of the position rankings (hard to believe). Derrick Henry gets the 2018 Comeback Player of the Year. There were many candidates for 2018 Bust of the Year, but it goes to Lev Bell (close second David Johnson). The 2018 Worst Fantasy NFL Team goes to the REDSKINS. The 2018 SWFFL Rookie of the Year goes to Josh Jacobs. The Good Fellas avenged their early season loss to the Dream Team, booted them out of the Money and came close to snagging that “Golden” helmet (at least they did not go to bed thinking they had it wrapped up to wake up to the stats correction). The Fellas were led by the COWBOYS triplets of all people (salt in the wound). The Dream Team was led by Goff, Metcalf and Woods as they slipped below the Money Line. I think some parental punishment is in line here. Perhaps there is some “Tim Dwight” resentment left over. |
The Body Shop solidified their 3rd place finish (not a full Championship hangover) by avenging their early season loss to the Fightin’ Irish. The Shop was led by Allen, Samuel and Tucker in the victory, The Irish were led by Brees and Higbee in the loss. An Irish start of Boon and Montgomery over Chubb and Thomas (yeah that was likely) would have had the Irish finishing with a “W”. The Croatans swept the Black & Blue Attack and went to bed with the Golden helmet in their pocket. They woke up and somehow the Assassins swooped in and stole the Golden helmet in the murky darkness known as a “stats correction”. From across the sideline the Attack coached just shook their heads and said “been there – done that”. The Croatans were led by Tannehil (wow Marcus who?), Mixon and Brown in the victory. The Attack failed to field a 20 point scorer and really had a bench full of goose eggs (mostly due to Week 17 benchings). The Roxborough Wranglers avenged their early season loss to the 2nd place Money Takers and grabbed the last Money spot (from yours truly). The Wranglers were led by Winston, Barkley and Koo as they finished with a bang. The Takers were led by Mayfield, Adams and Kupp in the loss that really did not cost them much. That being said, a Parker start over Hunt, would have made the Dream Team happy. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black Assassins and the Jelly Beans. The Assassin wrapped up the Championship in the afternoon and then some time during the night they scored the Golden Helmet as well. It was certainly a good year for the Assassins which were led by Rodgers, Henry and Perriman in their victory lap. The Jelly Beans were led by Gordon in the loss which ended what had to be a disappointing season for the Jelly Beans. All I can say is congrats Revenge and Beans, we all get a fresh start next year.
