![]() Week 16 finds the results coming into focus. With 1 week left only 6 teams have a chance for a money spot (OK the Croatans would need 3 teams to lose and would have to outscore a couple of them by about 100 pts., but it is possible – not likely). Also, the Championship is down to 2 teams. The Assassins have the edge with a 60 point lead over the Money Takers. Now for the Commissioner’s state of mind the EAGLES beat the COWBOYS and took over the lead of the NFC Least. The Dream Team sweated out a win on Monday night. I am typing (at least this part) on Christmas Eve. I’d say the Commissioner is feeling pretty good. Hopefully, that will be rendered in this version of the notes. BTW, Merry Christmas to the SWFFL and their families. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-Ups to watch this Week The Money Takers will try to win the title by sweeping the Roxborough Wranglers and getting some help elsewhere. In a family affair, the Dream Team hopes to keep their current Money spot by sweeping the Good Fellas and maybe upgrading their spot with a little help from the Irish. The Black Assassins are looking to take the trophy by sweeping the Jelly Beans. The Body Shop will try to solidify their 3rd place spot by avenging their early season loss to the Fightin’ Irish. Croatans will try to grab a money spot by sweeping the Black & Blue Attack and hoping for a miracle. Spock was 4 of 5 last week making him 38 of 70 (54%) on the year. Spock retains top billing. Norm (my estimates) were 2 of 5 last week making him 36 of 70 (51%) on the year. Norm’s lines (my estimates) appear below: MT -1 RW (259) FI -1 BS (255)DT -9 GF (271) BB -2 C (254) JB -2 BA (258) There were only 1 game decided on Sunday (good Monday Night matchup – on paper anyway). The other 4 all had a little Monday night madness (some more than others). The Black Assassins had already wrapped up the season sweep of the Good Fellas and they still had Rodgers coming on Monday night, luckily for them they really did not need him (the PACKERS are a different team nowadays). The Assassins were led by Kenyan Drake (whatever happened to David Johnson) as they clinched at least second place and have the inside track to the Championship. The Fellas failed to field a 20 point starter in the loss (in fact they had no 20 point scorers on their roster). |
The Roxborough Wranglers and a 70 point lead roved to be way too much for the Fightin’ Irish and Boone on Monday night. The Wranglers, led by Barkley (now that is #1 pick performance - finally), Freeman, Cook and the COLTS as they kept their Money hopes alive and went into Monday with the helmet pretty much a done deal (The Takers seemed to have the monopoly on players that played well on Monday night). The Irish were led by the ever-present SAINTS double bubble in the loos that eliminated them. The Irish ammo on the bench would not have changed the outcome. The Money Takers, Jones, Adams and a 29.7 point lead were more than enough to hold off the Croatans and Thielen on Monday night. The Takers kept their Championship hopes alive and avenged their early season loss largely due to the efforts of Fitzmagic, Jones, Adams, Brown, Parker, Kelce and the TEXANS (Jones and Adams totaling nearly 70 points on Monday night – and stole the helmet from the Wranglers). The Croatans were held by Tannehill, Kamara and Brown in the loss that all but eliminated them. The Jelly Beans, Cousins and Crosby barely overcame a 6.5 point lead by the Body Shop on Monday night. The Beans avenged their early season loss to the Shop due in large part by the performances of Julio and Andrews. The Shop was led by Action Jackson in the loss that eliminated a repeat Championship by the Ship. A Samuel start would have kept the Shop in the mix. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Black & Blue Attack. OK – this one is NOT even Commissioners privilege. I sweated out that whole 4th quarter being one mid-range completion to Diggs from a loss that would have severely decreased the Dream Team money chances. The Dream Team was led by Goff, Woods and Run CMC as they avenged their early season loss to the Attack. The Attack was led by Sanders in the loss. A Daniel Jones start would have turned the tide for the Attack. The Money Takers were not pleased with Daniel Jones benching. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
