![]() Week 10 finds 8 of the 10 teams in the money or tied for a money position. The ninth team is only a game out of a money position. The last place team found the win column again. That being said the team at the top is now 2 games ahead of the majority of the teams and also the bottom. More signs pointing to a competitive season. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-Ups to watch this Week The Roxborough Wranglers will try to keep pace with the rest of the Money teams by completing the season sweep of the Dream Team. In a battle of former partners, the Black Assassins will try to complete the season sweep of the Croatans. In a family affair, the Good Fellas will try to complete the season sweep of the Jelly Beans and put another game in between them and the basement. In the only contest between Money teams, the Money Takers will try to put a vice-grip like lock on the top spot by sweeping the Body Shop. In a battle of members of 5-5 log jam, the Black & Blue Attack will try to get a season sweep against the Fightin’ Irish. Norm (my estimates) were 3 of 5 last week making him 24 of 40 (60%) on the year. Norm retains top billing. Spock was 1 of 5 last week making him 16 of 40 (40%) on the year. Spock’s locks appear below: RW -1 DT (251) BS -1 MT (261)BA -10 C (250) BB -13 FI (257) GF -15 JB (241) Two games were final on Sunday. The other 3 had some Monday night madness (one more than the others). The Jelly Beans turned it around this week against the Fightin’ Irish as they notched their 2nd “W” of the year. The Beans were led by Cousins, Landry and Andrews in the victory that halted a 6 game losing streak. The Irish were led by Cooper and Thomas in the loss that ended their 3 game winning streak. The Irish left some points on the bench, but not enough to make a difference. The Money Takers notched their 2nd helmet and put a game between their chasers (in and out of the Money) by avenging their early season loss against a former partner in the Black & Blue Attack. The Takers were led by Murray, Jones, Kelce and Kirk (where did that come from Scotty). The Attack put up a quite respectable 160+ points in the loss and would have beaten every team but the Money Takers this week (I hate when that happens). The Attack were led by Cheetah Hill and Daniel Jones (Daniel Jones vs Daniel Jones – gotta love it). The truth is that neither team deserved to lose. You could even claim the Attack had a moral victory, but after 3 real losses in a row, moral victories are not what the Attack needs. |
The Croatans and a 30.2 point lead proved to be too much for the Roxbrough Wranglers and Jason Myers to overcome on Monday night. The Croatans were led by Tannehill, Ronald Jones and the RAVENS (Tannehill and Jones – go figure) in the victory. The Wranglers were led by more familiar names (Winston, Cook and Tate) in the loss. The Black Assassin, Lockett and a 43.5 point lead were way too much for the Dream Team and Metcalf on Monday night. The Assassin were led by Henry in the “W” and he pretty much single-handedly kept the Assassins from suffering from the Helmet hangover (sure no hangover when I play the helmet team). The Dream Team was led by Run CMC in the loss. Between the injured players and knuckleheads (AB), the Dream Team had a hard time fielding a lineup (and the RAMS played this week – well they were on the field anyway). The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the Good Fellas. The Fellas held only a 12.3 point lead against the Shop Sanders and the 49ERS on Monday night. It looked the season sweep by the Shop all but over until Sanders was seen walking off the field early in the 2nd quarter. The 49ERS slowly chipped away until they exploded past the Fellas with a SACK-FUMBLE RECOVERY-TD in the 4th quarter. The Shop was led by Jackson and the 49ERS in the victory that got the above the money line (by less than 2 points). The Fellas were led by Prescott and Moore in the loss. A Jones and Samuel start would have had the Fellas in the Money I stead of the Shop. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
