![]() Week 8 finds every team within 2 games of every other team. The NFL wishes they had that kind of parity. Sorry for the lateness of the notes, but the commissioner was out not at SWFFL HQW the last 4 or 5 days. Where was I? Well where is the one place you think would be cool to spend Halloween. OK, maybe you would not guess Salem Massachusetts, but that is where I was. Like a lot of things, it was nice to do once. Don't think I'd do it again. There were a lot of "interesting characters" there. OK during the last week there was (I think) a reasonable request to change the waiver period to 24 hours and to start the waiver clock on all "bulletin board" transaction at 8:00 AM on Tuesday. All the reactions I have seen have been positive, but I really need to see 100% agreement to change a rule mid-season, so let me know what you think. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Bishops of Battle will try to hold on to that top spot against the equally high-scoring Young Gunz. The Fightin' Irish will try to hold on to that last Money Spot with a win against the Good Fellas. The Roxborough Wranglers and Money Takers will try to make a strong second half start against each other. The Jelly Beans will look to replace the Black & Blue Attack in the Money by beating them in their only meeting this year. The "Draft Day Traders" (Dream Team and Body Shop) will meet for the only time this week. Norm (my estimates) was 4 for 5 last week making him 18/30 (60%). He retains top billing. Spock was 0 of 5 last week making him 12/30 (40%) on the season. His locks appear below: BS -13 YG (281) BB -9 JB (267)FI -6 RW (268) BS -13 DT (273) MT -10 RW (256) Monday night had some Monday night madness in two games (mainly one). The rest of the week 8 schedule was decided on Sunday. The Jelly Beans defeated the Money Takers who put up the lowest score of the week for the third straight week after starting 4-0. The Beans were led by AB and Lutz as they are now just outside of the Money. Only Kamara cleared the 20 point barrier for the Money Takers. The Takers left a lot of points on the bench and a Newton and AD (All Day) would have ended the losing streak for the Money Takers which now stands at 4. The Black & Blue Attack already had the game wrapped up against the Fightin' Irish on Sunday and they still had White going on Monday night. The Attack was led by Trubisky, Mixon and Hopkins as they scored their first helmet of the year. The Irish had scored a few helmets in the last 4 or 5 weeks, but this week the only thing keeping out of the low scorer slot was the Money Takers. The Irish can blame a lot of that on the @#!%& BYE weeks. In fact, (again sue to the BYE) the Irish really did not have much help on the bench either. |
The Good Fellas had already won the game against the Young Gunz and still had Brady and Flash coming on Monday night. The Fellas were led by and MVP performance by Conner (Le'Veon who?) and Gano. The Gunz were led by Luck and the VIKINGS WR duo. The Ginz just did nto have enough "Luck" as they would have beaten many teams in the league. A Drake start would have done the deal. The Roxborough Wranglers carried a 60+ point lead into Monday night against the Dream Team and Edelman. Edelman had nice night but not that nice as the Wranglers pulled within 2 games of first, helped by nice performances by Cousins, McCaffrey, Evans and Larry Fitz. The Dream Team was led by Edelman and Beckham as they continued their ride on the Win-Loss sea-saw. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Bishops of Battle and the Body Shop. This one was probably "GOW" just because it was between the 1st and 3rd place teams. The 3rd place team (The Bishops) knocked the 1st place team (The Shop) off the top spot and took it over themselves. The Bishops were led Wilson, Gurley and Fuller as they ascended to the top of the standings. The Shop was led by Mahomes and Cohen in the loss that leaves them tied for first. The Shop had some help on the bench but even their best lineup would have fell just short. Gostkowski more or less kept pace with Gronk and the PATRIOTS on Monday night, but even this game was never really in doubt. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
