![]() First off, I want to wish everybody a very happy 2019. I also would like to congratulate all the Money teams and especially the 2018 SWFFL Champion Body Shop. The Shop notched its third title, led the league in points (5th bets total of all time) and also notched the Week 17 helmet. As the Young Gunz succinctly expressed it on the bulletin board, the Shop hit the SWFFL Trifecta. Also fo those of you that think the fantasy football scheduling gods have too much to do with the winners, it should be noted that the top 4 scoring teams finished in the Money, although the Young Gunz were 2nd in scoring and finished in the 4th place. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. OK, this is the part where I look back at the draft analysis I do at the beginning of most years. This year it picked 3 of the 4 Money teams making 44 of 88 overall. 50% - same as a coin toss. As an alternatively, the CBS Guru selected 2 of the 4 Money teams, which makes them 5 of 12 (42.7%) in the last 3 years. I still think the Guru's system is better than mine, which is probable since CBS uses projections instead of just the previous year's numbers, like I do. Spock was 2 of 5 making him 37/75 (49%). Norm (my estimates) was 1 of 5 making him 34/75 (45%). So Spock wins the competition between the odds makers. I actually did not get many picks from Norm this year, my fault. Maybe we will do better next year. Since we have some extra room in the last week, I will be doling out my season-ending awards for the year. The 2018 Fantasy MVP award goes to Patrick Mahomes (was on championship team and led all in points). The CHIEFS repeat as the the 2018 Fantasy NFL Team of the Year award by grabbing a top 4 spot in 4 of the position rankings (also highest scoring NFL team). Andrew Luck gets the 2018 Comeback Player of the Year. There were many candidates for 2018 Bust of the Year, but it goes to Lev Bell. The 2018 Worst Fantasy NFL Team goes to the CARDINALS. The 2018 SWFFL Rookie of the Year goes to Saquon Barkley. The Roxborough Wranglers completed the season sweep of the Dream Team in a game that was more about pride than anything else. The Wranglers were led by Evans and Engram as they avoided the by about 30 points. The defending Champion Dream Team (my last change to say that for at least a year and a half) was led by Goff and Edelman as the season ended. The Dream Team's injury-riddled bench did not really offer many options (and no that would have made a difference). I can tell you this, I am going to think once or twice before making another trade with the Body Shop. I know nothing malicious was intended, but somehow Zeke and Hill look a lot better than OBJ and Fournette (ok Norm was not fully on board with drafting Fournette - and nether am I going forward). |
The Money Takers avenged their mid0season loss to the Jelly Beans in another contest that held little impact on the standings. The Takers were led by Mayfield, Reynolds and Agholor in the win. The Beans were led by Mullens and Cooks in the loss. The Beans had limited options on the bench. In the closest game and what would normally have been GOW, the Good Fellas completed the season sweep of the Young Gunz. The Fellas were led by Brady, Carson and Godwin and despite finishing in last place the swept the 3nd highest scoring tram. The Gunz were led by Luck and Barkley and despite the loss managed to hold on to that final Money spot. The Gunz had many options on the bench, in fact a Josh Allen get them the all-important Week 17 helmet. The Fightin' Irish need only to win their week 17 competition with the Black & Blue to win the title. The Attack needed to Win and the Shop to lose to win the title. Neither of those scenarios panned out as the Attack led by Mack, Hopkins and Kittle did their part but they did not get the help they needed. The Irish were led by Julio on the loss that dropped them from 1st to 3rd. Fortunately for the Irish, they had no bench players that would have made the difference. That would have made for a long off-season for the Irish. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the Bishops of Battle. The Shop needed a win and an Irish loss to win the title. The Bishops needed a win and Gunz loss to get back in the Money. The Shop was led by Mahomes and Hill. The CHIEF double bubble basically led the Shop all year, and week 17 was no different. I wonder if Casey has trouble accepting a title due in large part to an ex-EAGLE coach (I doubt it). The Bishops were les by Matty Ice and Zay Jones in the loss. The Bishops had limited help on the bench. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
