![]() Week 10 finds a 5 place tie for first place. With a 7 place tie last week we had to have some teams fall out (cannot have 7 teams winning in a 5 game schedule). Interestingly given that situation, we did wind up with the maximum number of teams tied for first (which means the 3 teams not in the tie all lost to teams tied for first). A couple of weeks ago there was (I think) a reasonable request to change the waiver period to 24 hours and to start the waiver clock on all "bulletin board" transaction at 8:00 AM on Tuesday. All the reactions I have seen have been positive, but I really need to see 100% agreement to change a rule mid-season, so let me know what you think. The old web (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. Key Match-ups to watch this Week The Bishops of Battle will try to keep pace with the crowd at the top by sweeping the Roxborough Wranglers. In a family affair, the Jelly beans will try to hang on to that recently acquired penthouse suite by sweeping the Good Fellas. In a battle of the teams that fell out of that 7 place tie, Defending Champion Dream Team will try to avenge their week 2 loss to the Money Takers (it is an odd week so that means a W for the Dream team). In the only contest between the teams in the crowd at the top the Body Shop will try to sweep the Black & Blue Attack. The Fightin' Irish will try to stay with the IN crowd by sweeping the Young Gunz. Spock was 4 of 5 last week making him 18/40 (45%). He regains top billing. Norm (my estimates) was 1 of 5 last week making him 22/40 (44%). His lines (my estimates) appear below: BI -2 RW (266) BB -1 BS (271)GF -1 JB (269) YG -1 FI (273) DT -9 MT (285) Monday night had some Monday night madness in two games (really none). The rest of the schedule was decided on Sunday. The Bishops of Battle had a 20.4 point lead over the Good Fellas and still had Shepard playing on Monday night. The Bishops were Ryan and Gurley in the "W". Despite the win the Bishops dropped out of the top spot due to a big point swing (more about that later). The Good Fellas failed to clear 80 points and as expected in that kind of output, they did not have a starter break the 20 point barrier. There was little help on the bench as the total roster failed to break triple digits. The Jelly Beans were over 200 points in their contest against the Roxborough Wranglers and they still had Engram in their back pocket. The Beans wound up with a season-high 210.8 points which, believe it or not, is not even in the top 5 all-time but it certainly was high enough to score the first helmet for the Beans and enough to have them leap-frog over the other 6-4 teams to gain the top spot in the standings. The Beans were led by Brees, Gordon, AB, Cooks and an MVP performance by Chubb. The Wranglers had a nice ground game from McCaffrey and the resurrection of David Johnson. |
The Body Shop carried a 59.8 point lead against the Young Gunz and Barkley on Monday night. That was just too much for even a Rookie of the Year candidate. The Shop was Zeke and the CHIEF double bubble as they moved to 6-4 with the rest of the IN crowd. No Gunz starter cleared the 20 point barrier, and although there were some bench players above that level, they would have not made a difference in the outcome of the game. The Black & Blue Attack, Kittle a 52.5 point lead were way too much for the Dream Team and OBJ on Monday night. Monday night madness, teams tied for first and the second closest game of the week. It took a lot of restraint to give "GOW" to another game. The Attack was led by Trubisky, Jones and Adams as they moved to 6-4 with the rest of the N crowd. The Dream Team was led by Rodgers and OBJ in the loss that left them one game out. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Fightin' Irish and the Money Takers. No Monday night madness, but it was the closest game and was between teams in a tied for first. The Irish were led by Rivers, Julio and a monster game from Ertz as they moved along with the rest of the IN crowd to a 6-4 record. Got to admit (besides the Dream team), I am sort of pulling for the Irish to finally take home the trophy. The Takers were led by Kamara, JuJu and Thomas as they dropped to 5-5.
