![]() Well another year has come to an end. Congratulations to the Money Takers on their excellent year and championship run (reunions rarely work out so well). It certainly was a competitive year, with the last Money spot coming down to a battle of 4 teams. Humility should stop me from saying much more, but apparently I do not have much of that particular virtue. The Commissioner's office would like to congratulate the Dream Team on their 5th SWFFL Championship. It had been quite a stretch, but at last the wait is over. In finalizing the financials I realized I missed a couple of transactions. This has been corrected. The old website (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. I added the "CBS Guru" draft analysis to my analysis, and will compare both to the results at the end of the year. OK, this is the part where I look back at the draft analysis I do at the beginning of most years. This year it picked 3 of the 4 Money teams making 44 of 88 overall. 50% - same as a coin toss. As an alternatively, the CBS Guru selected 2 of the 4 Money teams, which makes them 5 of 12 (42.7%) in the last 3 years. I still think the Guru's system is better than mine, which is probable since CBS uses projections instead of just the previous year's numbers, like I do. Norm (my estimates) was 2 of 5 making him 41 of 75 (55%) on the year. Spock was 2 of 5 making him 41 of 75 (48%) on the year. So we actually have a tie. I actually did not get many picks from Norm this year, my fault. Maybe we will do better next year. Since we have some extra room in the last week, I will be doling out my season-ending awards for the year. The 2017 Fantasy MVP award goes to Russell Wilson (was on championship team and led all in points). The CHIEFS win the 2017 Fantasy NFL Team of the Year award by grabbing a top 4 spot in 4 of the position rankings. I have to give Todd Gurley the 2017 Comeback Player of the Year. There were many candidates for 2017 Bust of the Year (incl. injuries like Johnson, Beckham and to some degree Rodgers), but I think David Johnson gets it. The 2017 Worst Fantasy NFL Team goes to the BROWNS, last in the NFL at scoring. The 2017 SWFFL Rookie of the Year goes to Hunt and Kamara. The Body Shop completed the season sweep of the Roxborough Wranglers largely on the strength of the performance of Allen. Unfortunately the Shop needed a few more points and a Bean loss to the Takers to nab that last Money spot. The Wranglers were led by Hyde in the loss. The Wranglers had enough points on the bench to make the difference this week, but in the end it really did not matter. The Black & Blue Attack defeated the Good Fellas, completing the season sweep, and saddling the Fellas their 7th loss in a row. The Attack was led by Kamara in the win. The Fellas failed to field a 20 pt. starter. In fact they had a couple of goose eggs in their lineup (one that did not play). |
Bishops of Battle avenged their early season loss to the Fightin' Irish. The Bishops were led by Winston and Cooper as they helped knock the Irish out of the money. The Irish were led by Rivers in the loss. The Irish best lineup would have won, but they would have still fallen short of the Beans. The Young Gunz avenged early season loss to the Dream Team. The Gunz were led by Freeman in the win. The Dream Team was led by Wilson and Landry in the loss. Despite back-to-back losses the Dream Team won the championship. They did not just back in to the trophy, they moon-walked in and it once again came down to the end. Now Brett it is D-R-E-A-M .., ahh if you need help with the spelling it is on the trophy at 4 previous years (mostly 1990's). The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the Money Takers. The Beans in large part due to the LION double-bubble put up a big lead on the Takers, who were led by Lewis early. During the late games, the Takers led by Jimmy G, Henry and Baldwin were chopping at the Beans lead. It seemed every time they got close, Bryant would boot another 5 pointer. In the end The Takers were down by 5.2 with 9 minutes left in the RAVENS-BENGALS game. The BENGALS were driving late and tit looked like they might get a FG sending it in to OT and giving Tucker a chance to win the game for the RAVENS and the Takers. The BENGALS were sown to 4th down at mid-field with 44 seconds left. I figure one more incompletion and it is over. Somehow Dalton connects to Boyd for a 49 yd. TD, giving the BENGALS a 3 point lead (and some chance for Tucker madness). The PAT was good and that pretty much ended it for the RAVENs and the Takers. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
