![]() Firstly, I wanted to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As we enter the last week of the schedule, the top spots are locked up, but the Championship will go down to the last week. There is a pretty good 3-team battle for that final money spot. The Bishops of Battle low point total has all but eliminated them from that final spot competition. That week 17 prize is still open to all. The old website (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive. Send any ideas to me and I will see what I can do. I added the "CBS Guru" draft analysis to my analysis, and will compare both to the results at the end of the year. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Body Shop will try to complete the season sweep of the Roxborough Wranglers and maybe grab that last money spot. The Money Takers will try to sweep the Jelly Beans and with a little help from the Young Gunz, lock up that re-union championship. The Dream Team will try to sweep the Young Gunz and wrap up the championship for the first time in many years. In a battle for pride, the Black & Blue Attack will try to sweep the Good Fellas. The Fightin' Irish will try to maintain a hold on that last money spot by sweeping the Bishops of Battle. Norm (my estimates) was 3 of 5 making him 39 of 70 (56%). He regains top billing. Spock was 1 of 5 this week making him 39 of 70 (56%). His locks (my estimates) are below: BS -4 RW (236) BB -6 GF (238)MT -6 JB (242) FI -10 BI (238) DT -4 YG (246) Every game this week had a little Monday Night Madness. The Roxborough Wranglers and a 29.7 point lead were too much for the Black & Blue Attack, Bryant and the STEELERS on Monday night. The Wranglers failed to field a 20 point scorer as they completed the season sweep of the Attack. The Attack also failed to have a 20 point starter as well as neither of these trams cleared the 100 point barrier. The Attacks best lineup would have made a difference in the outcome of the game, although not much of an overall difference. The Bishops of Battle, Bell, Cooper and a 5 point lead held off the Body Shop and Algholor on Monday night. Cooper led the Bishops to the season sweep of the Shop. The Shop had no starters that made much of a difference. The same could be said for the Shop bench. Although both are still alive for the last Money spot, the Shops point total is a real advantage whereas the Bishops point total is like an anchor around their necks. |
The Jelly Beans, Jeffrey and 28.1 point lead were too much for the Dream Team and Lynch on Monday night. The Beans were led by Gurley and Julio as they avenged their early season loss to the Dream Team. The Dream Team failed to field a 20 pt. starter, however they still managed to clear 100 points (only team other than the Money Takers to do that every week.). A Powell start by the Dream Team could have had some early parade planning going on. The Young Gunz, JuJu, Zach and a 10.3 point lead held off the Good Fellas, Ajayi and Elliot on Monday night. Neither of these teams had any 20 pt. starters. The Good Fellas had some better starters on the bench, but not enough to keep the Gunz from locking up the 3rd place spot a completing the season sweep. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Money Takers and Fightin' Irish. The Money Takers and a 27.8 pt. lead seemed to be holding off the Irish, Hopkins, Crabtree and the EAGLES on Monday night. Hopkins split the lead in half on Monday afternoon. It looked like a slam dunk for the Irish, but the EAGLES did ok and Crabtree did absolutely nothing (mus]t have been worn out form scoring so much last week against the Dream Team). With 3 seconds left in the RAIDER-EAGLE game it looked like the Irish would come-up just short and the takers would once again ascend to the top spot in the standings. The RAIDERS tried to dial up Stanford-Cal, but that just does not fly in South Philly. The EAGLES Barnet recovered a fumbled lateral. He fumble recovery would have had the Irish .3 points short of a victory. The Irish needed a defensive TD. As Barnet rumbled to the End Zone, he avoided half-hearted RAIDER attempts to score the TD that would lead the Irish to a revenge victory over the Money Takers.
