![]() Week 5 finds my favorite team at the top of the standings. There has been a lot of traffic on the bulletin board about things like waiver-period and so I will repeat the rule. When picking up a player (they will all appear as free agents in CBS Sports). Please review the transactions and make sure the player was not released with the last 3 days. If the player was released, either post your claim and hope nobody under you in the standings claims him also or wait until the player clears waivers and pick him up as a free agent. If you are lower in the standings, you probably would do the claim on the bulletin board. If you are high up in the standings you may want to keep the player to yourself and hope he clears waivers. And to be clear, the last completed week's standings when the player's waiver period is up, will be used to determine the waiver wire. We will NOT be using standing updates due to early games. I hope this is all clear. Give a shorter waiver period some thought, as I believe it will be an issue at next year's pre-draft meeting (or maybe earlier). I personally think 3 days gives everybody enough time to recognize a player has been released without unduly hindering those who want the player as soon as possible. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2015 Draft analysis, and the updated draft slot analysis. Send me ideas and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Good Fellas and Black & Blue will meet in a battle of 2-3 teams (how big is the difference between 3-3 and 2-4?). The Dream Team will try to keep that top spot by beating the Bishops of Battle. The Money Takers and Young Gunz will meet in battle of teams trying to stay north of the .500 line. The Body Shop and Roxborough Wranglers will meet in the only contest between Money Teams this week. The Jelly Beans and Fightin' Irish will face-off in what very well, may be a battle for the basement. Norm was 3/5 last week making him 12/15 (80%) on the year. His Lines (my estimates) appear above. Spock was 2/5 last week making him 6/15(40%) on the year. His Locks appear below: GF -7 BS (241) RW -12 BS (254)DT -10 BI (238) JB -2 FI (263) YG -5 MT (249) Three games had a little Monday Night Madness. The other two were over on Sunday. The Money Takers squeaked out a victory against the Jelly Beans. The Takers were led by Murray, Beckham and Hopkins as they climbed above the Money Line. The Beans were led by Robinson and Eifert. A Kaepernick (how hard is that name to spell) start would have had the Bans at 3-2 instead of the Takers. |
The Body Shop had the "W" against the Irish on Sunday. The only question was whether rivers would land them their 2nd helmet in a row on Monday night. He did, that Pirate Parrot firing seems to have inspired the Shop. The Shop was led by Rivers, Freeman, Hurns and Gostkowski. The Irish had nice performance out of Eli and Forsett in the loss that finds them at the bottom of the standings despite being 5th in point scored. Bone, what did you do to offend the scheduling gods? The Dream Team and a 61.8 point lead held off the Good Fellas, Gordon and Brown on Monday night. The Dream Team was led by Rodgers and Sanders as they climbed to the top of the standings. Brees led the Fellas in the loss. The Bishops of Battle carried a 26.6 point lead into Monday night against the Black & Blue Attack and Antonio Gates. It was a threat but not a real one, but Gates whipped up a pre-game potion that was half fountain-of-youth and half chip-on-the-shoulder to counter that notion. Gates put on a show and gave the Attack a much needed win. This could have easily been "GOW", but it was not. The Attack was led by Dalton and Gates. The Bishops were led by Bortles and Cooks in the loss that dropped them out of the Money. An Ellington start would have made a difference. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Young Gunz and the Roxborough Wranglers. The Wranglers and Allen carried 15.8 pt. lead into Monday night against the Gunz and Bell. The Wranglers still held a 3.9 pt. lead with 5 seconds left in the week. The Steelers were down by 3 and on the 1 foot line. They had 1 timeout left. They could play it safe take the FG and head into OT and who knows what would have happed there. They could have tried a quick pass and maybe still had time for the FG, or they could go for broke and send Bell into victory or quite possibly a loss and a bunch of Tuesday morning armchair quarterbacking. Bell scores from the wildcat on the last play. Steelers win. Young Gunz win. What a finish to week 5. Gunz were led by Brady and Jones. The Wranglers were led by Bradford and Edelman in the loss that dropped them out of the top spot. A Gore start would have made Monday night boring. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
