![]() Week 4 was another tragic and sorrowful week for the SWFFL. Michael "Big Bone" Coyle of the Roxborough Wranglers passed away on Friday. From what I understand he went into the hospital to have ankle surgery and there were complications that lead to heart failure. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Coyle family during the trying time. Unfortunately I did not really know Mike that well. So, I will defer to others who did know him better. "Big Bone (Mike) was a good athlete he excelled in baseball, softball and football, but he found his niche as a Basketball player. He was a member of the O'Mahoney club for many years marching on St Patrick's day downtown. Mike also worked for the Philadelphia Water company for over 30 years and just retired about 2 years ago. He is the proud father of his son Michael Jr. Also he loved the Sunday Eagles games and being a season ticket holder for over 20 years now, with that being said he loved hanging out and sitting next to his younger brother Bone on game days. Big bone also loved hanging out at the beach with friends in north wildwood. Mike was loved by everyone,he didn't have an enemy in this world. We all lost a true friend with his passing." - Ron Mitnick of the Jelly Beans. "Michael Coyle died following complications after ankle surgery... it was sudden and completely unexpected. Mike was one of the few people I have known that I can honestly say everybody liked... just a great person.... he will be missed... please keep his family in your prayers.... (his brother Dennis "Bone" is also a member of our league). I have asked his close friend Ron M Jr. to take over his lineup..... RIP Bone Sr." - Jack Casey of the Body Shop in message to Survivor League "Al and I were shocked at the news of Mike's passing. Personally, I had coached basketball, and played softball with Mike, and he was friends with my older siblings. He was always a friendly, familiar face from the Old Neighborhood, from any events like the St Patrick's Day parade, to fundraisers, or just having a beer at the Loop or O'Mahoney Club. It was good to see him at the top of the standings this season, and I really don't know what else to say. RIP from the Bishops and just from the memories of a class person, who I have known for a long time." - Mike "Toast" McLaughlin and Alex Saddic of the Bishops of Battle "Sorry for your los "Rest in peace, so sorry to hear about Big Bone. He will be missed." - Brett Morris of the Young Gunz s Bone" - Michael Brown of the Black & Blue Attack"Rest in peace, so sorry to hear about Big Bone. He will be missed." - Brett Morris of the Young Gunz "Bone, the Takers agree with the commissioner's sentiments, so sorry for the loss to you and your family." - Dan "Bubba" Jones of the Money Takers Since we are tight on space this week, I will try to just include the highlights of the week and some standard items. We maxed out the transaction box this week, one more transaction and I do not know what I would do. This was the lowest scoring week in a long time (since we switched to PPR and yardage points) as 6 of 10 teams failed to reach triple digits and the high score was only 136.1. Norm was 5/5 this week making him 9/10 (90%) on the year. His Lines (my estimates) appear above. Spock was 2/5 this week making him 4/1 (40%) on the year. His Locks appear below: DT -8 GF (244) JB -4 MT (242)BI -21 BB (231) BS -3 FI (247) RW -23 YG (247) | ![]() Three games had a large dose of Monday Night Madness. The other 2 were over on Sunday. The Body Shop scored their first Helmet by defeating the Good Fellas. The Shop has been busy on the waiver wire as Forte and Johnson were the only starters that were Shop Draft picks. The Young Gunz led by Bell and Maclin defeated the Bishops of Battle who did not have a 20 point player on the roster. The Dream Team, Tate, Prater and the SEAHAWKS took an extremely long time to overcome an 8.6 point lead on Monday night against the Fightin' Irish, but they did. In what might be considered Co-Game of the Week, the Jelly Beans and a 27.1 point lead just barely, by a half of point, the Roxborough Wranglers, Megatron and Haushcka. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Money Takers and the Black & Blue Attack. The Takers, Wilson and Graham just barely (by 0.4 pts.) overcame a 17 point by the Attack. Why is this "GOW", well the Takers took the lead on the last drive (last play if you don't count kneel downs) of the game. That 50 yard pass form Wilson to Kerse with a minute left was the difference in the game. My guess, any TE not named Gates would have made a difference. I do not think the Attack decision was about the fee, but more about "who do you cut" quandry.
