![]() Well another season has come to an end. The Commissioner's office would like to congratulate the Jelly Beans on their 3rd SWFFL Championship. We also wish to congratulate all the other Money Teams. The championship was certainly competitive this year. Still not as competitive as a couple years back, when a 0.2 point scoring change was the difference between the Championship and 5yh place. OK Mike, I promise never to bring that up again (I have my fingers crossed behind my back). The Roxborough Wranglers scored their first money finish. I am sure "Big Bone" is up there smiling down on his team's best finish. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The Settle-Up Party is tentatively set for Sunday February 21st at 6:00 at Maggie O'Neil's. I will let you know if there is any changes. I hope to see everyone there. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2015 Draft analysis, and the updated draft slot analysis. Send me ideas and I will see what I can do. OK, this is the part where I look back at the draft analysis I do at the beginning of most years. This year it picked 1 of the 4 Money teams making 41 of 84 overall. Less than 50%. As an alternatively, the CBS Guru selected 3 of the 4 Money teams including the Champion (although they did have the first and second place team swapped). Maybe the Guru's system is better than mine, which is probable since CBS uses projections instead of just the previous years numbers, like I do. Norm (my estimates) was 4 of 5 making him 42 of 75 (56%) on the year and he wins the annual competition. Spock was 3 of 5 making him 37 of 75 (49%) on the year. I actually did not get many picks from Norm this year -- my fault. Maybe we will do better next year. Since we have some extra room in the last week, I will be doling out my season-ending awards for the year. The 2015 Fantasy MVP award goes to Cam Newton (in a year where all the top ranked QBs did not finish in the top 4). The PATRIOTS and PANTHERS share the 2015 Fantasy NFL Team of the Year award by grabbing a top 4 spot in 3 of the position rankings. The 2015 Surprise of the Year is Davonta Freeman who wound up as a top 2 RB despite not even being the starting RB on his team at the beginning of the season nor was he drafted. In fact the Dream Team had the dubious distinction of picking him up post-draft and cutting him before he became a scoring machine. There were plenty of other surprised some relative newbies like Bortles, Barnidge, Gurley and Cooper and some oldies like Larry Fitz, Brandon Marshall, Doug Martin, etc. I have to give Adrian Peterson the 2015 Comeback Player of the Year after a year off. Carson Palmer came in a close second. There were many candidates for 2015 Bust of the Year (incl. injuries like Bell, Luck, Charles and Bryant), but I think DeMarco Murray earned the title. The 2015 Worst Fantasy NFL Team goes to the 49ERS. They were the worst in the league at scoring. |
In a battle mainly for pride, the Young Gunz completed the season sweep of the Body Shop. The Gunz were led by Matthews and the TEXANS in the win. The Shop failed to field a 20 point starter which tends to happen when the team fails to breach the 80 point barrier for the week. Starting Hillman, Parker and Williams would have given the Shop the win and kept them out of the basement. The Dream Team avenged their early season loss to the Roxborough Wranglers and climbed out of the basement. Well a 2 game winning streak is certainly preferred to a 10 game losing streak. The Dream Team was led by Watkins and Ertz in the win. The Wranglers were led by Megatron in the loss. The Wranglers certainly left some points on the bench and their best lineup maybe have even kept them in the Championship hunt or at least second place. The Fightin' Irish completed the season sweep of the Bishops of Battle. They also scored their first helmet, and if you are only going to win one this was the one to win. The Irish were led by Eli, Julio, Rueben and Demryius. The Bishops came up small with a possible title on the line. Only Walker manged to clear the 20 point barrier.  In the only game where the team playing for the title actually won, the Jelly Beans completed the season sweep of the Black & Blue Attack. The Beans were led by Marshall as they wrapped up their third championship and 2nd in 5 years. The Attack wasted a very nice performance by Big Ben in the loss. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Good Fellas and the Money Takers. This contest was basically a playoff game for the last Money Spot and it turned out to be a good one The Fellas completed the season sweep of the Money Takers winning this one by 13.1 points after winning in week 8 by 2.4 points. The Fellas were led by Newton and Brown (that combo did a lot of damage this year). The Takers were led by Wilson in the loss. A Murray or Witten start would have put the Takers in the Money instead of the Good Fellas. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
