SPOCK'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 9 finds that there is starting to become a bigger gap between the haves and the have-nots. That being said, no team is out if it yet. Besides the fact that it is too early to give up, it is still to ever team's advantage to make their best effort to win (thus avoiding loss fees). It is also particularly important to every team that every other team make decent efforts to field a competitive team. One year, you may need a little help from a team that isn't that high in the standings. Surely you would be a bit angry if said team left a player in the starting lineup that was on a BYE or ruled out, when they had a healthy alternative on the bench. I am not saying you should be compelled to purchase player when you are out of it, but you should at least make an attempt to field the best team you can. This week we had an incident where a team started a WR on the BYE when they had options on their bench. Now, this team even made a transaction during the week. So it is probably not a matter of the team just mailing it in. The fact that they did not notice all week that this WR was on a bye, means maybe they did not care enough to double/triple check their lineup. I am not saying that this is the case here, bur it really does take away from everybody's enjoyment of the league when a team throws in the towel and does not try, I do not think that is what happened here and I hope no further incidents occur, but as the rules are all I can do as Commish is hope.

Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2013 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Black & Blue Attack will try to sweep the Good Fellas and keep waiting for another Body Shop misstep. The Dream Team will try to avenge there week 1 loss to the Shop and provide that Shop misstep to the Attack and themselves in this battle of Money Teams. In a different type of battle altogether the Jelly Beans will try to sweep the Fightin' Irish and win the battle for the basement. The Bishops of Battle with try to sweep the Roxborough Wranglers as both teams need to make a move soon. The Money Takers will try to sweep the Young Gunz as they lurk just inside the Money Line and the Gunz 3-peat dream is fading quickly.

Spock was 4/5 last week making him 22/35 (63%). He regains top billing. Norm was 2/5 last week making him 18/35 (51%) on the year. His lines (my estimates) appear below:

GF -1 BB (259)     BI -2 RW (252)
DT -9 BS (277)     MT -2 YG (258)
JB -1 FI (245)

Three games had a little Monday Night Madness. The other two were over on Sunday.

The Young Gunz carried a 38.8 point lead against the Good Fellas into Monday night with Bradshaw and Donnell in their back pocket. The Gunz were led by Ellington, Sanders and Hopkins in the victory. The Fellas had no 20 point starter and though there was some help on the bench, it would not have been enough.

The Body Shop avoided their second loss barely against the Fightin' Irish. Sorry neither team clear triple digits eliminated this game from GOW honors. The Shop was led by Graham as they continue to rule the penthouse. Sanu led the Irish and if they had played the other half of the BENGAL double-bubble we'd have a new first place team.

The Black & Blue Attack, a 30.1 point lead, Luck and Viantieri proved to be way too much for the Bishops of Battle and Hilton on Monday night. The only question was whether the Attack could steal the helmet form the Dream Team. They did. The Attack was led by Luck, Hill, Brown and Vinatieri as they lurk right behind the Shop. Palmer and Hillman led the Bishops in the loss. The Bishops need to move now or the may need some divine intervention to save their season.

The Dream Team carried a 97.1 point lead against the Roxborough Wranglers and Randle on Monday night. The Dream Team was led by a resurgent Brady, Foster, Edelmand and Gronk as they won their 5th game in a row. The Wranglers were led by Brees and Maclan in the loss. A little more snow and wind in Boston and the Wranglers might have regretted starting Watkins on the BYE.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Money Takers and the Jelly Beans. The Takers, Willimas and Beckham faced a 13.6 point deficit against the Bean on Monday night. The GIANTS did not do a lot on Monday, but they did get the Takers the win. The Takers were led by Manning, Morris, Harvin, Beckham and DOLPHINS as they lurk just inside the Money. The Beans were led by Tannehill, Ingram, Lynch and D-Jax in the loss.
