![]() Week 7 still finds the Body Shop undefeated. A certain owner even had me look up the record for most wins to begin the season. Apparently it was the 8-0 start by Sharks in 1998. My records for 2007 are spotty (Quiet Storm started 4-0) and non-existent for 1989, so that is what we are going with. A very interesting point is that the top 4 teams in the standings and the top 4 teams in scoring were also the first four teams to draft. Perhaps I should revisit that drafting position analysis at some point. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2013 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Good Fellas will try to hold off the Money Takers. In a family affair the Dream team will try to keep a hold of that last Money Spot by beating the Jelly Beans. The Body Shop looks to tie Bone's record by defeating Bones' big brother. The Bishops of Battle are trying to fight there way back into the Money against the Fightin' Irish who are trying to escape the basement. The Black & Blue Attack slipped a bit in their pre-destined charge to the Championship as predicted by this week's opponent the defending Champion Young Gunz. Spock was 3/5 last week making him 16/25 (64%) on the year. His locks appear above. Norm was 3/5 last week making him 12/25(48%) on the year. His Lines (my estimates) appear below: MT -1 GF (255) FI -1 BI (251)DT -8 JB (268) YG -2 DT (254) RW -2 BS (252) Four games had a little Monday Night Madness. The other one was over on Sunday. The Body Shop remained undefeated by beating the Jelly Beans. And much too the Shop's delight, they did not have to sweat it out on Monday night with a small lead or small deficit to make up. The Shop was led by Wilson, Forte and Cobb as they moved to 7-0. None of the Beans starters cleared 20 point barrier. Roddy had a 25 on the bench, but he would not have been enough to take the Shop down. The Roxborough Wranglers and 78.2 point lead proved to be too much for the Fightin' Irish and Andre Johnson on Monday night. In this Brotherly Battle for the Basement, the Wranglers were led by Bress, Garcon and Watkins. In the loss, the Irish were did not have a starter clear 20 points. The Irish did not have much help on the bench either and find themselves buried in the basement. |
In one of 3 games decided by less than 6 points, the Money Takers and a 30 point lead barely held off the Black & Blue Attack and Antonio Brown on Monday night. The Takers were led by Manning, Bryant and Tate in this battle between ex-partners. The Attack was led by Luck, Brown and Thomas in the loss. A Vereen start would have had the Attack keeping pace with the Shop in the race for the Championship they apparently already won. The Bishops of Battle and 23.5 point lead looked good against the Good Fellas and Bell until the next to last real possession by the Steelers on Monday night. Bell then added 0.7 insurance points on the last non-victory formation possession by the Steelers. The Fellas ended up winning by 1 point. The Fellas were led by Bell, Flacco and Nelson as they maintained their Money Spot. The Bishops were led by Rodgers and Hillman in the loss. With a 1 point loss, there were plenty of options on the Bishops bench that would have made a difference. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Young Gunz. This is mainly a "Commissioner" privilege pick. The Dream team Foster and a 4.6 point lead face the Gunz, Hopkins and the TEXANS. Hopkins caught a 16 yd. pass to the STEELER 1 to finally take a 4.3 point lead. On the next and final play (not including onsides kick-offs and kneel-downs), Foster caught a 1 yard pass for the TD which put the TEXANS within one score and gave the Dream Team the victory. The Dream Team failed to field a 20 point starter and once again started their worst QB. If we could figure out the WB thin we might be up there with the Shop. The Gunz also failed to field a 20 point starter and had a number of options on the bench that would have gotten them back on the winning track. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
