![]() Well here we go again. Our 26th season is under way. 26 years is incredible, congrats to all SWFFL'ers old and new. The Commissioner's office is a bit gloomy this weekend. Lost in every fantasy league I am in (3 big leagues, a couple of small ones and few just for fun ones), was pretty much officially eliminated from my Baseball league and I gained the dubious honor of becoming the first person to be a repeat Week 1 elimination in Casey's Survivor pool. If you notice a dark tone to these notes, at least you will know why. How about that block-buster post-draft trade? There was some talk of collusion, but I did not see it that way. Keeping a trade secret is not the same as making a trade that deliberately interferes with the competitive nature of the league. Also, for future reference, YOU MUST DRAFT A STARTING LINEUP (completing of a staring lineup with post-draft transactions is not allowed). Why should one team get an extra RB or WR during the draft by waiting until after the draft to pick up a PK or ST. To be honest, I never really paid attention to what teams needed what positions (unless it was helping me make picks), but I will from now on. By the way, the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there like the complete 2014 Draft analysis as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week In a family affair the Dream Team and Good Fellas will battle each other for the first 'W'. The Body Shop and Black & Blue will meet in a battle of teams that had a better Week 1 than yours truly. The Jelly Beans will try to remain undefeated against the Roxborough Wranglers. The Money Takers will try to keep Mo Mentun on their sideline as they face the Fightin' Irish. The Bishops of Battle (at the top of the standings) will face the Defending 2-Time Champion Young Gunz (at the bottom of the standings). Spock beat Norm last year. Look for them to renew their annual battle of wits next week. Spock's lines appear above, but they will not count in the 2011 Oddsmaker battle. We got Norm a little more involved last year, maybe we can do better this year. I did that analysis based on last year's points, It is 38 out of the 76 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. Also, this analysis does not include post-draft transactions, so the Takers do not have Manning and the Beans are missing a ST and the Young Gunz don't have a PK. See the old website for details on what players made up your Best Lineup based on 2013 points.

A Monday nigh double-header meant every game had at least a little Monday Night Madness!! The Bishops of Battle and a 42.1 pt. lead were too much for the Roxborough Wranglers and Victor Cruz. The Bishops scored the first helmet of 2014 and grabbed a hold of the top slot. The Money Takers, Tate and a 31.8 pt. lead were too much for the defending champion Young Gunz, Bell and Novak. The Manning-led Takers definitely put a crimp in the Young Gunz 3-peat plans. The Gunz, know for their fast starts, may have to find an alternate path to that 3rd title. The Jelly Beans, Larry Fitz. and a 30 pt. lead were too much for the Fightin' Irish and the Charger double-bubble. This was one of 3 games decided by less than 10 pts. which means there was some help on the bench that would have turned the tide for the Irish. The Black & Blue Attack and a 22.6 pt. lead proved to be just barely too much for the Good Fellas, Floyd and the CARDINALS. A Wallace or Cook start over either RB would have given the Fellas the "W". The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Body Shop. Attack-Fellas and the Beans-Irish game were definitely "Game of the Week" worthy, but on this particular week, I invoked Commissioner's privilege (had to win something this week). The Shop and Stafford carried an 18.5 point lead into Monday against Bush and and MVP performance by Megatron. The lead changed hands several times, but the Shop grabbed the lead for good as Stafford bulled his way across the goal line for a QB Sneak TD. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
