![]() Week 7 finds the standings (especially at the top) getting a bit cozy. As the Shop HQ pointed out to me, there are now 6 teams within one game of first place. Normally, I'd like this scenario, except the Dream Team mini-slump is the main reason those standings are tightening up. I'd like to extend my Congratulations to Ronnie of the Jelly Beans. Over the weekend he added to the population of wives who lose their husbands to football on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and a few Saturdays. Congrats to Ronnie and Hilary. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2013 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Bishops of Battle will take on the M. Takers in a battle of one team trying to climb above the Elite line and one trying to stay out of the basement. The Black & Blue Attack will try to put themselves back in that championship run against the Jelly Beans who are trying to climb out of the basement. In a battle of the youngsters and Elite teams, the Good Fellas will take on the Young Gunz. The Dream Team will try to stop the bleeding against the Fightin' Irish. The Body Shop will try to make that last step over the Elite line against the Roxborough Wranglers. Spock was 4 of 5 making him 12 of 25 (48%) on the year. He gains top billing. Norm was 0 of 5 last week making him 12 of 25 (48%) on the year. His lines (actually my estimates) appear below: MT -3 BI (235) DT -8 FI (255)JB -1 BB (241) RW -2 BS (238) YG -2 GF (244) One game was over on Sunday, all the rest at least a little Monday Night Madness. The Good Fellas, with Eli in their back pocket on Monday, defeated the Jelly Beans in a game where many of the coaches were nursing hangovers. The Beans failed to field a 20 point player as their 2 game winning streak was snapped. The Fellas were led by Decker as they climbed into a tie for first. Brady, CJ2K and Hopkins would have kept that winning streak going for the Beans. The Bishops of Battle, Walsh and a 26.1 point lead proved to be too much for the Dream Team and Cruz on Monday night. The Bishops of Battle were lead by Forte and Megatron in the win that put them on the 4-way tie for third place. Peyton lead the Dream Team in their second loss in a row (and of the season). The Dream Team is still at the top of the standings, but thing were looking a lot better for them a couple of weeks ago. |
The Body Shop and a 37.8 point lead were more than enough to hold off the M. Takers, Nicks and the Vikings on Monday night. The Shop was led by Douglas and an MVP performance by Dalton as they climbed intot hat third place log jam at 4-3. A reliable source has told me that the Shop is considering renaming their team to Bionic Body Shop as they try to "rebuild it and make it better, stronger, faster." Sorry for the 70s reference Young Gunz and Good Fellas. The Black & Blue Attack, AP and a 93.4 point lead were way too much for the Roxborough Wranglers, Randle and Rudolph on Monday night. The Attack was led by Luck, Green, Thomas and Reed as they lead that log jam at 4-3 and scored their first Helmet of the year. The Wranglers failed to field a 20 point starter and to be honest there wasn't a whole lot of help on the bench. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Young Gunz and Fightin' Irish (another contest that may have called for the Sunday morning Bloody Mary). The Gunz and Brown carried an 8.3 point lead into Monday against the Irish Jacobs and Simpson. Now this may have truly been Monday Night madness game, but the when Jacobs went inactive n Monday it kind of killed that. It also didn't help that Freeman did not look like he could hit the broad side of a barn. That game n Monday was painful to watch. The Gunz were led by Rodgers as they climbed above the Elite Line. The Irish fell to 3-4 despite nice performances by the Rodgers and Gore. The Irish find themselves one game out of third place but also one game out of the basement.
