![]() Week 5 still finds the league with one undefeated team. Every team has notched that first "W" of the year. I know it is early but everyone is within 2 games of the Elite line. There was big 3 for one traded between the Black & Blue Attack and the M. Takers. AC Green is a very good WR, but it looks like the M. Takers got back some quality and quantity for him. I've noticed that some teams have been dropping players while they still have undrafted slots available. We only draft 16 players but you can carry 18, so make sure you fill those empty slots before you drop anyone. This is still happening, so I repeated it. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2013 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Young Gunz will try to climb above the .500 line and maybe even take the Bishops of Battle's current Elite spot. The Fightin' Irish will try to swap places in the standings with the Body Shop when they meet this week. After the big trade last week, the Black & Blue will try to continue their ascent to the top of the standings against the M. Takers. In a family affair, after winning their first game of the year, the Jelly beans will try to hand the Dream Team their first loss of the year. The Good Fellas look to hang on to a Elite spot against the Roxborough Wranglers. Norm was 4 of 5 (what a welcome back) last week making him 10 of 15 (67%) on the year. He retains top billing and his lines appear above. Spock was 3 of 5 on the week making him 7 of 15 (47%) on the year. His locks appear below: BI -10 YG (278) DT -40 JB (280)BS -19 FI (255) GF -11 RW (281) BB -21 MT (269) Two games were over on Sunday two were more or less over and only 1 had some Monday Night Madness. The Good Fellas already defeated the re-minted M. Takers with Matty Ice in their back pocket. The Fellas were led by Ryan and Blackmon who returned with a bang. The Takers were led by Thomas and Nicks. BTW, Bubba, if it matters any, I like the trade. I usually don't like the quantity end of a man-for-one trade, but I think you really got some nice players for Green. The Bishops of Battle and a 77.2 point lead proved to be too much for Fightin' Irish and Powell. The Bishops were led by MVP Romo and James Jones as they climbed above the Elite line. The Irish were led by Rodgers in their 3rd loss in a row. |
The Body Shop, Julio and a 50.3 point lead were too much for the Young Gun and Gonzo on Monday night. The Body Shop climbed into a tie for 2nd place on the strength of performances by Brees, Williams and Witten. I am sure Casey is enjoying the victory even more so with his Cowpoke contributions. A 50.4 point lead by the Jelly Beans was way more than White and the Roxborough Wranglers could handle on Monday night. The Beans finally notched that elusive first "W" of the season due in large part to performance by Cutler, Spiller, Rice, DeSean and Henery. It took some courage to bench Brady but it paid off big time. The Wranglers were led by Rivers and Dez. Rivers really must have hated where he was going in fantasy drafts everywhere. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Black & Blue Attack. It was the closest game of the week and was a contest between the top 2 teams in the standings. OK there was no Monday night Madness, but thanks to the Baseball gods there was a little Monday Morning Madness. Woodhead and the Attack kept chipping away at the Dream team lead, but Gates would rally back. In the end, the Dream Team remained undefeated and notched their 3rd helmet of the year mainly on the performances of Manning, Hilton and Tucker. Luck, Moreno, Gordon, Graham and Hauschka led the Attack as they managed to put up the second highest score of the week. Normally, I hate when that happens, but in this case I will make an exception. A Fred Jasckson start over Thomas or Green would have put the Attack in a tie for first, but admittedly that is not a move most coaches would even think of making.
